Nina
~Sonia arrived back early with two new strangers at her side. They were no more than eighteen and by the clothes on their backs, had been living in the streets.
I rushed over to her, a concern in making these two cubs feel welcomed. It wasn't hard to figure out they were coming here for shelter.
A few of my pack, mostly cubs themselves came out curious by these two cubs. They smelled no more than several months old.
"Hey...you two most be hungry." By the mention of food their mouths almost hung open ready to plow into anything they could eat. I smiled, knowing their unspoken answer. I nodded for them to follow and they lingered close walking inside the house all the way to the kitchen with me. "Take a seat," I directed them.
They moved briskly, both in equal speed to a chair waiting hungrily for what I was about to serve.
"Um...thanks ma'am. Your Alpha fed us before coming here..."
I smiled, waving her concern away. "Because you're Weres...it's important you eat twice as much. We have stronger appetites."
"I'm Karen. My brother Paul." The girl was not uncomfortable speaking for her and her brother. Her brother huddled close to her side, scooting his chair close to her.
"I'm Nina." I observed from the corner of my eye their connection as I opened the stove pulling out a pot with my bare hands, roast Mckayla made before leaving.
When I made their plates bringing it to them, they galvanize over it, eating instantaneously.
A few of my pack snuck their heads into the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes putting the pot of roast back into the oven. "Let them eat and relax before admiring them," I told the cubs lingering on the outside wall of the kitchen.
They ran off as Sara came in chuckling. "I remember those days."
"What days?" I asked.
"When we saw new young faces."
Sara watched the new faces eat away and smiled. "Hey...once you two are done, I'll find you some new clothes and maybe you can shower."
Karen nodded.
"Do we smell that bad?" Paul asked hesitantly.
Sara shook her head without giving room for her lie to make way for them to see. They did smell but I'm sure it wasn't by choice.
"I only figure...that's what you two would want."
Karen and Paul nodded simultaneously. "Yes ma'am."
Sara snorted. "Please...I'm Sara. Call my mate ma'am. She'll love it."
Karen's brows arched up high, almost intrigued. "Your mate...is a female?"
Sara eyes narrowed in on Karen, probably wondering like I was if she had a problem with that. "Yes..." she answered, observing Karen's response to her answer.
"So is mines...last I checked." I muttered the last half of my statement for no one but my own ears to hear.
"Cool," Karen said with a smile.
"Cool." Sara mimicked glad to know we hadn't brought in more bigot Weres into our pack.
"Nina," Kaylee came in a bit exaggerated on calling me. "When is mom coming back?" Kaylee whined. "She promised to take me out hunting."
