I don't even want to know the contents of that floppy disk anymore. I picked it up, ran to the door and threw it as far away as possible.
I don't ever want to see it again.
Then I went over to Penn, and tried to comfort her.
"Penn, Penn, it's okay, it's over..."
"I..I know, it's just.. hard to put their deaths behind me, so I could move forward.. It's hard, Aubrey!"
It is hard, and for me too. But I want to comfort her, and maybe help her move on.
"You know, Penn," I asked.
"Say the plan worked, and we escaped, what will you do next?"
Penn looked at me, then looked away thoughtfully.
"Hmm... If we did... Well, I don't really know, I can't even tell where to start.."
"Okay, I could help you..uh, maybe, what career would you aim for?"
Penn thought through it alittle.
"I don't really know, maybe an artist? I like art alot, or maybe I could try for a fashion designer, making new trends..."
I smiled. "Well, that's not too bad.. I would like to become a programmer, for videogames and such. But it would take alot of math, and, well,"
"You don't really like it do you?"
"No I don't.."
Penny then looked back at me.
"Aubrey, if you were able to escape and start up a life, would you get married?"
I hesitated. Never have I ever been asked this before, and I've never been interested in a girl before, not that I know of, anyways.
"Um... I don't really know.. I, I've... "
Penn stared at me harder.
"Have you ever had a girlfriend, or a love interest of any sorts? Have you had a crush?"
I never knew that many girls. I had Cody for company, so I didn't have a lot of friends, and other guys picked on me for being small, so girls never had interest in me. Really, there only was one girl I ended up knowing really well who wasn't family, and she was...
"Yes," I said, kind of embarrassed, " I did like someone.. And she is with me now..."
Penny's golden-hazel eyes sparkled, and she jumped up and hugged me tight, and I stood, awkwardly taking it in.
"So to finish the first question, the answer would have been..."
I smiled back, and nodded.
