"I trust you."
When she finished her sentence, I put the ATV into gear and drove out into the feild. I am deciding we will go to Wolf's house, just for practice run. It was sometime almost near sundown, but with the amount of gas, I believe we could get home before dark.
It was nice, driving instead of walking. It has been a couple years since I drove, but it all came back to me with ease. I drove past the forest and marshy areas, without getting to messed up, except for some mud that flew with contact. Places that once scared us were now just a blur of green and brown.
We made it to Wolf's house without any problems. We told him briefly what we were up to, and broke the news of Antonio's untimely death. He frowned, and shook his head, then changed the subject by offering meat and lodge for the night. We said we were okay, and began the drive back.
It was dark now.
"Hey, Aubrey? Can't you turn on the headlights or something?"
Good idea, but...
"Sorry, Penn. I don't know how. If I knew, I would.."
Just then, there was a sound..
Footsteps...
"If you don't know, just, just click random buttons!" Penn hissed, obviously she had heard it as well.
I scrambled to hit a button, but I don't want to hit the wrong one.
There are several grey buttons, the green button, and a yellow one. I tried some grey, but nothing happened.
Then I checked the yellow button.
The lights flicked on.
There was Jack in front of us, his mask was pulled upward slightly, so you could see his mouth and lower face. I never quite noticed his skin was ash coloured. He also had sharp teeth, and blood dripping down his chin..
We both screeched, even if it was a deer I would have jumped. I kicked into full gear (not literally, I didn't kick anything) and kinda ran him flat..
I hope..
We continued driving, but we still felt watched. I asked Penn to turn around in the seat and check behind us.
"What's out there..?" I asked, kinda nervous.
"..uh.. Nothing.. Wait, there is someone there.."
"What?"
While driving, and picking up speed, I checked the single rear view mirror.
There was someone there, but it was too dark to see exactly who. What ever it was, it was able to keep close to the vehicle. I picked up speed again, the digital dial marked 30 mph, faster than I normally like driving at. Much, much faster.
"Can you identify them? It's to dark for me in this mirror!"
"Well your darn rear view mirror is no different than my vision. Don't worry, anyways, I think we lost them."
"Don't say that! When people say that stuff, they can get jinxed, and then the shit happens.."
Penny screamed "Aubrey! Turn right!"
I did not bother to find out what was there, I just turned, and ran over a small tree. There must have been someone behind us, for he or she cursed about something smacking them..
That is what we heard, for we did not look back in fear.
