We all said our good nights, then went to our beds.
I closed my eyes...
And I was home, back in the large house Cody and I used to live. It looked just as it had when I was young, grass shimmering brilliant green, small trees on the large front yard. Leaned against one tree was Stybba, fresh and new, even without the large gash on her belly that must have happened only weeks after creation.
I scooped up Stybba and walked toward the old, large house.
There felt something different about it.
I opened the door, and gasped.
The rug in front of the door was drenched in blood, and the hallway was darker and gloomier than ever remembered. I felt though, that I must continue walking.
I walked on, first passing the living room. The TV was on, though it just shown static. Before I left the utterly dark room, I thought I saw a familiar girl sitting on the couch, knitting, but I can't recall.I moved on. The kitchen was a mess of broken china, toppled chairs, blood, and a body on a table, with his gut cut open and surgical tools nearby, but the surgeon is gone.. One of those things that measure your heartbeat was there too, it just made the single long beep, meaning no life. It was.. Eerie..
Upstairs was where all the bedrooms are. I decided I better first check on my mother, in my parents room. As I approached, I heard the loud scream, but as I dashed to the door, it was too late, Mother was already dead. I watched this moment in life repeate again. My father stood over his wife's corpse, no smiles, just stared. Then he looked up at me, and just stared,
Just as in the past.
But this time, I ran at him,
"Why did you kill Mother, you, you monster!!"
I lunged at him and punched at his face hard as I could, but when I recovered from my rage,
I realized that I had been punching my dead mother's face, and Father was no where to be seen.
I screamed real loud, and sobbed. Where did he go? I needed that revenge for mother. I heard clinking of metal objects crashing into one another. I ran as fast as I could to our room, Cody and mine.
Cody was there, alive again, and fighting the hatchet boy again. I needed to help him this time. But I had no weapon.
I rushed downstairs, and took out a frying pan, since the knives were out of my reach. I ran back upstairs, but now it was different..
The hatchet boy was no more. In his place, was my father, swinging his hatchet to defend from Cody's blows. Cody swung as well, before father just walked off.
Not again.. No..
I sprinted for father with my pan, whilst crying out to Cody to move out of the way. I got to the end of the room, and I hit my father on the side of the head. I heard a grunt of pain from Cody. Blood gushed out of his gut wound.
Not again...
I went to the sheets next, tore them up, and walked back to bandage up Cody.
"Cody, please hold still, okay? Don't move.."
"It's too late for that, Aubrey."
I whirled around, and my father was standing, looking down at me triumphantly.
"You should have helped him when you were there, Aubrey. When the real thing happened.."
I looked back at Cody, but he was dead, very dead. Parts of him were decaying, and he had dirt about him and in his hair.
Cody is already dead and buried.
"Aww, my poor little halfling, your always to late to save your loved ones.."
Father..
Why is he doing this to me?
"The next thing you know, your all alone, and it is all your fault..." Father said, with a sneer, now in his surgeon uniform, with his scalpels and syringe.
His words echoed in my mind.. And it won't stop. I collapsed, pleading for an end to my torrment..
My eyes snapped open.
It was still to early to wake up, the sun is clearly not up yet. Maybe I'll check my watch.
I tried to move my arm, but realized I can't. I began to panic.
Oh, god no
God no..
I can't move, and I'm feeling watched...
