CHAPTER 18: A New Quest

PERCY'S POV:

Typhon! Seriously? I didn't want to face the fellow again.

Coming to typhon, he is gaia's most powerful son. Much more powerful than Titans. He was also the youngest.

Tired of being outcast, he had one battled gods to conquer Olympus, and had almost done so.

He was the monster Olympians feared the most. Zeus had somehow managed to imprison him under mount etna.

Since then, he had been trying to get free, and this had caused several earthquakes in the mortal world.

This fellow was enormous. It is said that his head touches the stars. Also, when Zeus had atTacked him with the lightning bolt, he had merrily shrugged it off.

Shrugged off the lightning bolt! The most dangerous weapon. Now I hope you can pretty well understand how dangerous he is.

And, and... What he could do once he was free. He would simply be impossible to defeat...

"How can nyx free him?" I asked once Chiron had stopped.

"Nyx has sent best of her forces to break typhon free. They literally plan to lift mount etna and unleash him" Chiron said, his expression worried.

"And how can we stop this all?" Leo asked, from other side of the table.

" there is no possible way to stop the destruction once typhon is free." Chiron said.

"What we can do is stop the enemy forces from breaking him free" Chiron continued.

"But we can't stop them forever.... And what if in our absence, they attack the camp?"

"You only need to stop them till 7 July. Then, he can't be broken free for another century."

"This is the time scheduled to free him. Also, attack from Nyx is not expected till the last week this month, so we'd have plenty of time." Chiron completed.

I could see some hope now. Chiron's view point was pretty right. We might just have a chance of survival.

The chances were, however, slim. Nyx's forces wouldn't be all that easy to defeat.

Even if we succeeded, we had Nyx to face....

"Percy!" Chiron spoke, knocking me back to reality. I immediately got attentive.

"There will be a quest for you guys, and you'd leave in the Argo 2. There'll be six of you in all." Chiron said.

"Argo 2, so I'm in!" Leo grinned. Chiron smiled at him. "Yes Valdez" he said Leo.

"It would be Percy, Leo, Luke, Nico, and Annabeth" Chiron said, addressing us all.

Murmuring began. "Why not Jason, or mc lean, or Clarrisse? And beckendorf?" Someone shouted.

"Jason's not well. Besides that, we need warriors to defend the camp too, just in case..."Chiron finished.

"He's right, I must say." It was Clarrisse who spoke. Murmuring stopped.

"However much I'd like to go, Chiron is right. We must stay and defend the camp" she said.

Wow! So she finally said something right after all those years!

"So it's done... Those who have to go to the quest stay, rest may leave." Chiron said.

Everyone started leaving. Only 5 of us stayed.

"So in how many days are we to leave?" Annabeth asked Chiron.

"The problem there is already bad... You must leave tomorrow morning itself." Chiron said gravely.

We looked at him surprised. So soon?...

It was Leo who spoke "Um....I was... Well.... Just wondering, if...calypso could come too" he asked Chiron.

Chiron shook his head. "It was destined by the oracle that only 5 of the demigods may leave" he said.

"Hey...but she's a goddess, immortal. Not a demigod...so she could join, right?..."Leo insisted.

"Well, yes then, I suppose" Chiron thoughtfully said.

"Yeahhh" Leo cheered. I'm gonna tell cal. With this he rushed off, out of the room!!

Chiron suppressed a grin. "This boy!"

"Would we be able to defeat the forces of Nyx? They would be the best lot, I suppose. " Luke asked frowning.

" you do have some help....you'll meet some friends there" Chiron said, surprising us.
