alright guys.

look, i know you guys love reading this story, and i fucking love that. but when i get messages, posts, and comments solely based on you guys telling me to update soon or quicker, it doesn't feel so good. i love that you love reading this and enjoy this story as much as i love writing it, but i can't pop a new chapter with a snap of my fingers. writing this stuff takes time, and i start my first day of senior year tomorrow, so i can't write as much, plus i have SAT classes two times a week already.

comment as much as you want, but PLEASE stop just saying "update" or "update soon". it adds pressure and it makes me feel sad that i'm disappointing you guys every day when i don't update.

Chapter 26—Rumor Has It

Klara's POV:

Leah was smiling a lot more than usual.

Ever since our birthday party, the girl had been smiling as if she won some big prize, and I couldn't help but wonder why. Not that I wasn't glad that she was happy, because a happy Leah meant a happy Klara, but God—she was scaring me a little.

"Alright," I stated, shutting the car door as we walked across the lot and towards the front doors of the school, catching up to Leah as she shot me a quizzical look. "What's with all the smiley-smiley lately?"

Leah quirked an eyebrow as we walked. "Would you rather me be all frowny-frowny?"

My eyes narrowed at my twin as we walked up the steps. "Don't get all cute with me," I shot, pointing a finger accusingly. "Come on, tell me—what's up?" I continued, walking down the hallways and towards our lockers.

Leah looked straight ahead as we got to our lockers, her nude lips pressed together as she unlocked it. As she pulled it open, I distinctly heard her mumble, "Dylan and I kissed."

My lips parted upon hearing her words, eyebrows rising as I leaned against my locker, not bothering to open it as I stared at my sister in shock. She promptly ignored me, partly because her open locker door was obstructing most of my view of her, so I pushed myself off my locker and opened her locker wider, letting it slam back against mine as I stared at her.

But after blinking once or twice and clamping my mouth shut since it had begun drying up, my eyes widened at my sister. "You two what?" I demanded, an excited grin making its way on to my lips. I watched joyously as Leah's cheeks stained pink, making her skin darker thanks to the blush she was previously wearing. Oh, God, this was just too good. "When did you kiss?"

A breath escaped her as she shoved a notebook in her bag. "At the party," she confessed, her cheeks tinting darker as I let out a guffaw, staring at her with wide eyes.

My grin widened even more, tongue poking the inside of my cheek as I stared at my sister pointedly, smugly. "You have officially lost the right to tell me that no good comes out from parties," I stated triumphantly, the pleased grin not wiping off my face.

"Shut up," she lamely shot, pulling her lower lip into her mouth to obviously stop the smile from growing on the face. The little shit was practically glowing. "So what if we kissed, like, twice?"

"Twice?" I blubbered, tripping over the word as my eyes widened even more excitedly. Her cheeks darkened, and I found myself lightly bouncing on the tips of my toes as my grip on the strap of my bag tightened. "Damn, Lee, you're goin' in for the gold."

Leah's own eyes widened as she turned to shoot me an incredulous look, igniting snickers from me. "Oh, my God—Klara, shut up!"

See, when us blondes blushed—more so Leah than myself—our whole bodies practically reddened. So I wasn't surprised when not only Leah's cheeks, but her neck and collarbone area, which was visible thanks to the V-neck she was sporting, blushed a harsh red color as well. Aw, she was so cute.
