Chapter 48—Lighthearted

Klara's POV:

"We should go on a double date."

I paused in the middle of what I was doing—which was making my sister and I breakfast—to stare at Leah with a raised brow and my left hand on my hip, the right holding the spatula to scramble the eggs. "A double date?" I repeated, "What are we? Fifteen?"

"Oh, come off it," Leah rolled her eyes as our toasts popped up from the toaster, putting them on a plate. "We'll keep it simple and fun, Klara—we'll go to some nice restaurant and eat until we can't move and chat and then it'll be over."

I shot her a blank look as we settled in the dining room with our plates of eggs and toast and glasses of orange juice. "Wow, way to sell it, Leah," I responded blandly, sitting in my chair. My sister pouted in dismay as she began eating her food, and I let out a huff. "Alright fine," I gave in, catching sight at the way her eyes lit up. "We'll do the dinner thing, but before that we should do something else. Like, I don't know, bowling? Ice skating?"

"Ice skating," Leah immediately responded firmly after putting down her glass of juice. "I'm never going bowling again—you know that."

I snorted, unable to stop my amused grin from growing as I ate my food. The last time we had gone bowling, which was about a year ago, Leah had ungracefully dr0pped her bowling ball, causing it to land on her foot and break her big toe. Poor thing couldn't walk in the next fashion show we were to participate in, which instantly aggravated her because Leah hated canceling on events. She hasn't been bowling since. Tragic, really.

"Fine, we'll go ice skating and then do dinner," I told her with a laugh, picking up my phone before adding, "Tonight?"

"We'll ask if they're free. If they are, then yeah."

A few minutes later, after the boys telling us they were free and giving them the details of tonight—with Dylan offering to drive us all from my house—the plan for tonight was set, much to Leah's excitement. I had to admit, it'd be fun for all of us to hang out together, especially since Dylan and Leah were back together and officially official. Not to mention the fact that my sister was so damn happy.

When she had told me a few days ago that her and Dylan were not only back together, but had dropped the I love you bomb on each other, Leah had been practically over the moon and I had been a bit of a shock. But I had quickly recovered at the sight of her blissful smile and content expression, and I knew that my sister had worked everything out. Sure, I was a bit irate with Dylan for what he had done, but clearly he had made up for it, and if Leah was giving him another chance, I had no reason not to do so, as well. I just had to warn him if he ever did anything like that again, I wouldn't hesitate to punch him in his pretty face. Sisters before misters, after all.
