Chapter 14 The Day We Finally Go At Each Others Throats?
We are literally going insane. We locked ourselves in the apartment building. We turned it into a safe house and we take turns staying up looking for survivours. We fixed up every single room. They dont have beds but they have mat things to sleep on.We have been walking around the other buildings after the zombies cleared out and found tons of food.Also medication from the pharmacy. We're planning to create out own little town with this whole thing. We've fixed up another building across the street and useing it as extra space incase we don't have enough places for people to stay.We already have half of 1 floor filled. So we have to have enought space.
We have a shed out behind the apartment building for out bats and swords and our guns and ammo are in another shed. There both locked with padlocks just incase someone tried to steal them. We have 2 building set up and it's not as easy as you think. We went from haveing 1 full floor filled to half of 1 floor filled. We have a great deal of attacks while fixing this little place up or searching for things. Therefor we have lost people. We even almost lost Kaleb and James once. Laura almost got attacked to. We all have gotten attacked while here. So we all have to watch each others backs.
I walked up to Kaleb who was fixing up breakfast."Hey. You and Nick are up for inventory after lunch."I told Kaleb as he finished bakeing the pancakes.Nick is a survivour who is staying in the building. (A/N Yes they figured out to keep electricity going)
"I did it last week.Pick another guest."Kaleb said sounding very annoyed.I looked at him shocked. "We all have to help out.So it's inventory or gaurding tonight.Take a pick."I said then turned and walked out of the kitchen.
I can't believe he said that. He knows we all have to pull our own weight. Even I pull my own weight. I go search for things,do inventory,gaurd sometimes,and clean and make up the building. The only things Kaleb does is gaurd and search and inventory if he's forced like today. He needs to realize he doesn't get what ha wants all the time.So I walked over to where James was checking what he is supposed to do. "Hey.I thought I was supposed to be on inventory today not gaurding."James said.
"I'll fix that I saw the list and told Kaleb inventory.If you want you and Nick can switch.Nick did inventory yesterday.I'll ask him later."I replied giving James a slight smile.
He smiled back and I walked away. I went to Nick and of course he said he would switch. Nick hates inventory he only does it because he has to do it. I feel bad when he get stuck doing inventory. Inventory sucks. Majorly. You have to go through every last bullet or every lat little grain of rice to make sure nothing is missing. Which we have oh had 1 occasion in the past day or two. Someone stole some extra bedding from another room. But we got it straightened out perfectly fine. So we basically go through everything.
Searching for items. That's a whole other subject. You walk around building to building and search for weapons,food,ammo,blakents,bedding,medication,and anything else you might need. Even if it means going away further then the set places. The furthest we have ever gone was 5-10 miles out of this city. Some people have gotten attacked but that's this world right now. You can't let your guard down for even a millasecond. If you do. You might be the next zombie in this world.
Gaurding. Quite simple but not really. You gaurd the entire building. You split it between 2 people. Easy? I think not. You have to lock all doors make sure everyone is in their rooms by 11:00 PM. If not track them down put them in the room lock the door. All Doors have pad locks on them. Just so that no one can get in or out of the room.Extra safety.
Everything is needed.Everything we do is needed. I walked up to Kaleb as he started to clean up breakfast. "You and James are doing inventory.I switched Nick and James out.So you can work on not killing him."I told Kaleb sitting on the counter.
Kaleb walked over and kissed my forehead. He smiled and continued cleaning. "Hope you don't mind though."I told Kaleb.
"Why would I. It's James. Not a big deal."Kaleb said pulling me off the counter and dragging me out of the cafeteria.He dragged me to the first inventory room. "If I'm doing inventory with James.Your helping."Kaleb said with a smirk.
"Fine. But Your annoying."I told Kaleb as we waited for James. When James showed up he had Laura with him. "Why is she here?!"Kale and James yelled at each other at the same time.
"You first."Kaleb said tapping his foot showing he is aggervated. "I asked her to come and help so I don't strangle you."James said. "You couldn't touch me!"Kaleb yelled.
I pulled Kaleb back a few inches because I know Kaleb will punch James in a heartbeat. "Can we just do this inventory please."I said to them.So we did inventory and a few hours later ate dinner and went to sleep.
If was about 3 in the morning when I heard moaning outside. I tapped on Kaleb and he woke up. "What?"Kaleb moaned sitting up. "Do you hear that?"I asked him in a whispered voice. He stopped and listened. Just as he was about to say something It happened.....
