My Secret Mate

Chapter 21

I sprinted towards my mate pull. It was still strong so I knew Jacob was okay. I raced into the woods and to the clearing south of our territory. Jacob and a some of our men and Hercules' men had the last standing of the rogues circled. Jacob had a gash down his side and on his leg. My heart wrenched. With that feeling, Jacob looked to me.

"Vanessa, close your eyes," was all he ordered, and I did. I seen nothing but heard the most gruesome growls, cracks and screams. I didn't know whether to cry, scream, laugh or open my eyes. But I did none of the above .

I stood perfectly still. Focusing on the bond. I was so nervous until his warm arms pulled me into his embrace. "It's over now, my love, everything's going to be okay," he whispered into my hair as he stroked a strand. "They're dead, Jacob! They're everywhere! Why did this happen, how could I let this happen," I yelled into his chest.

He gripped my shoulders, firmly, and forced me to look in his eyes. There was a cut under his left eye and his hair was a mess, dirt covered his body. "None of this was your fault. We live to protect our Luna. Just as the pack lives to serve me, they live to serve you. And I will protect you, for as long as I live," he told me.

My eyes watered and I pulled him tight to me, crushing my lips to his. I needed this. The reassurance he filled me with just one kiss. "I love you, Jacob," I whispered, afraid that if I spoke any louder, my voice would give way and I would sound as weak as I feel. "I love you, Vanessa. Forever," he whispered back, before kissing my lips once again.

Someone cleared their throat as they walked up. I turned and it was Hercules. Jacob held my hand as he turned to face him. "Thank you, for coming to assist my pack," Jacob said, firmly. He held out his free hand and shook hands with Hercules. "I feel I should make this clear, I came to help because she's here. And just as you will protect her, so will I," Hercules said. My eyes widened and I looked at Jacob who was growling now.

"Don't speak about my luna, my mate. Remember your place. It'll never be her by your side. She's mine," Jacob said, "now I see it best for you to leave." Hercules looked at me and said, "call whenever you need me."  He turned and left with his men.

Jacob was furious and it was clear to see. "Jacob," I whispered as our pack looked at how angry their alpha was. His head snapped to me, eyes black as night. He lifted me up and carried me into our house to our room. He gently tossed me on the bed. He leaned his body over me before growling out, "you belong to me."

I nodded as his lips found mine. He kissed me with need, passion, dominance, and I loved every bit of it. I was Jacobs. Jacob was my mate. Hercules was a good man, but he wasn't my man.

Jacob kissed down my jaw and neck til he reached my mark. When he kissed and licked it, I couldn't hold back the moan that escaped my lips.

I woke up, happy. Jacob was sleeping peacefully next to me. And for the moment, I felt no worries. I traced his jaw line as he was sound asleep. When I moved my hand he stirred and rolled over, grabbing my waist pulling me right to him. I giggled and said, "Goodmorning, my love."

His voice was thick with sleep as he yawned, "Goodmorning, baby." He held me close as he leaned his head on my stomach. I giggled and ran my fingers through his hair that had grown out so much recently. He opened his eyes and looked up at me.

"Man, how'd I get so blessed," he asked, staring at me. I blushed and smirked, "you got lucky." He laughed and said, "I must have. To have known you my whole life to getting to keep you for the rest of my life. I'll always love you, Vanessa."

Someone was certainly lovey dovey this morning. "I love you, Jacob, more then you will ever know," I smiled . He leaned up and kissed me, letting it linger. This is the moments I lived for. Where me and my mate were happy in the arms of one another.

We were interrupted by a knock on our door. Jacob groaned and said, "the alpha life." I laughed and said, "but you make it look so easy." Jacob told whoever was at the door that he would meet them down in his office in 15 minutes.

Then he went and showered and got out, putting on some grey sweats and a white t shirt. He looked so fine. I couldn't help but stare. In a second, I was pinned on our bed with him over me. "If you keep staring at me like that, we will never be leaving this room," he said with eyes black from lust.

I giggled and said, "but then who would take care of our pack? You can't have me all day." He growled and said, "baby, I'll have you at any hour or the day. At every hour of the day. Remember that." I smirked as he hesitantly got up and left to his office.

Then, I went and took a long hot shower. After getting out, I put on some black skinny jeans and a log sleeved grey t shirt that went off my shoulder. I threw my hair up in a messy bun and put on some eyeliner and mascara.

I skipped downstairs to the kitchen. Brayden was downstairs, sipping on a cup of coffee. He eyed me and said, "now why is the luna so happy this morning?" He raised a suggestive eyebrow and I couldn't help but blush. "Hey, it's okay, at least I know Jacob won't be such a dick today," he chuckled. I laughed and said, "well I've got to keep my alpha happy."

He poured me a cup of coffee with creamer and slid it down the counter to me. I thanked him and walked around the house drinking my coffee. Everything felt so peaceful, and this is what I wanted for my pack.

A day of peace before we had to get all the funerals and graves planned out. My heart wrenched at the thought of my fallen members. My eyes welled up but I but my bottom lip to keep them from falling.

I heard Jacobs voice boom, "where is she?" He ran around the corner and seem me. He took me into his arms, "baby, what's wrong?" I shook my head and said, "I can't believe they're gone." He held me tighter and said, "but they will all be remembered as heroes, who fought and died protecting out pack, our family." I nodded and leaned my head on his shoulder.

Someday, there will be revenge.
