Last Strike

*Makana's POV*

"Hurry Banza! Help us carry this buffalo." Said Adamo.

Me, my mate Adamo, and our three children quickly carry off a dead male buffalo. Someone snitch on us and told the King.

"Move faster!" I snap.

A loud roar made us jump. We drop the dead animal. I look behind my shoulder seeing a horn bill fly in the sky. A muscular male lion ran to the scene. I recognize that dark mane any where. It's Ahadi, I growled.

"Makana!" He roared.

"Ahadi!" I bark.

"I thought I told you to never return here."

"We're starving Ahadi. My family and clan need food."

Ahadi frowned. "You know the penalty!"

I growl showing my claws. "I dont care. I won't let them starve!"

"Sire, I think you know what to do next." Spoke the horn bill.

"No, you won't hurt my mother!" Shenzi yelled.

Shenzi step in front guarding me like a shield.

Ahadi walked up showing his fangs and claws. "Stand aside adolescent and let me show you what happens when you disobeye your King!"

"Nooo!" Banza yelled.

Ahadi pounced. Ed cover his eyes while Banza watched with horror. I snarl knocking Shenzi aside. Shenzi fell with a dramatic gasp.

"Makana!" Adamo called.

Adamo jump in front of me. Ahadi crash into him causing the two to roll around what seems like a hundred times.

My face switch from anger to worry. "Adamo, no!"

After the two had stop rolling they began to fight. I want to help my mate, but Ed and Banza yank me back.

"Mother, don't!" Said Banza.

Shenzi rub her nose against my cheek. "You'll get hurt or killed."

I snarl. "I won't watch your father, my mate die!"

I ran straight to Ahadi who's got my mate pinned hard on the ground. I growl loudly and jump on his back piercing my canines through his light golden fur. Ahadi yelled, grabbing me off with his claws. He slam me down on my back.

I let out a whine. Adamo raise himself up and came over with a limp.

"Makana?"

With a blink of an eye, Ahadi smack Adamo sending him to fly.

"Dad!" Shenzi and Banza both yell.

I got up slowly. My eyes are closed. I shook my fur from any dirt or pebbles.

"M-Makana, take c-care of our c-children and c-clan." Said Adamo, added with a cough.

My eyes start to fill with tears. Ahadi instantly made the kill breaking Adamo's neck with his powerful jaws. Shenzi broke down crying. Banza hold her while Ed turn away with his ears flat.

Me? I stood there completely frozen. Ahadi left the scene with the horn bill flying above him.

My mate...he's gone...
