Funeral

*Zaina's POV*

Days Later...

"You're ready to go, honey?" I ask, my mate.

Jengo nodded. Today is Queen Uru's funeral, Jengo's aunt. The pass few days has been depressing for him. He loved his aunt. She was so warm and told great stories to Jengo when he was a cub.

His mother Amaya remain strong. She hasn't cried a tear yet. Not even when the news were first brought to us from Pride Rock. Me, Jengo, and Amaya walked our way to the Pride Lands. Taavi is in charge of the pride. Kaisa hasn't been feeling good so she stayed behind.

When we got to Pride Rock, all the animals are there for the funeral. From elephants to meerkats.

"Amaya, is that you?"

We look up seeing King Ahadi. He is standing on Pride Rock's tall long ledge.

"Yes, we've come for the funeral. My son also brought his mate if that's okay." Said Amaya.

He nod. "Yes, that is fine! You guys can come up. Rafiki should be here soon."

Jengo and I follow Amaya up the rocky steps.

"I am so sorry for your lost." I tell the heart broken King.

King Ahadi crack a smile. "Thank you."

Amaya looked around. "Where's Mufasa and Athena?"

"I don't know. They weren't in the den when I woke up. I'm sure they'll be back before the funeral starts."

A lioness with distinctive darker pelt broken only by patches of lighter fur on her muzzle, paws, and underbelly with ears that are rimmed brown walked out of the den.

"They left while everyone was asleep. Mufasa explained to me earlier that their going to find Taka and bring him back home." She said.

I hear Jengo growl beside me. Every since Taka shared our food with the hyenas, Jengo has nothing to do with his cousin again. He lost trust. I put my paw on top of his. It calmed him.

King Ahadi nod his head. The lioness sat down in front of us with a welcoming smile.

"Hello, my name is Sarabi. Mufasa's wife, future Queen of the Pride Lands!"

Amaya nod her head. "Yes, I remember you. I had came to the wedding."

I gave Sarabi a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, my name is Zaina. I'm Jengo's fiancé!"

"Congratulations on the engagement!"

"Thank you." Jengo said, while giving me a short nuzzle.

*Amaya's POV*

"Sire, Rafiki is here to begin the funeral!" Said Zuzu, Ahadi's majordomo.

Ahadi nod. A baboon carrying a stick step up to the ledge where we all gathered around and stood patiently.

He gave Ahadi a hug then smiled at us. Rafiki started speaking. Everyone got silent giving the baboon their full attention.

"With that being said..." He continued, "Who wants to say a few words about our beloved Queen Uru?"

Jengo raise his right paw. "I'll go."

Jengo looked down. I can tell he's still upset.

"Uru, my beautiful aunt, is one of the best lionesses I know. She was wise, warm, and a awesome story teller. Let's not forget what a great Queen she was too! Aunt Uru loved her title and took it very seriously. I will miss her and always love her. I'm sorry she had to go so soon."

The lion pride clapped their paws. Rafiki gave Jengo a hug.

"That was very nice, Jengo."

After listening what everyone had to say for Uru, It was time to now return home. The sky got dark. It's about to storm.

Ahadi gave me a hug and smile. "Thank you for coming."

I nod.

I led Jengo and Zaina back to the Sky Leaf Lands. When we got home, I went straight to the den. I lay down with my front paws cross thinking.

I was the only one that didn't have any words to say for my sister Uru. I feel sort of bad. But it's whatever I guess. Uru has always had a better life than me. Now she's gone, maybe things will get better for me. I doubt it. Soon I'm going to start to feel alone. Both of my parents are deceased, now my sister Uru. All I have is my son Jengo and his fiancé. When the sun sets on my time, I'll be the last of my family. A new family will start with Jengo and Zaina if they have Cubs.

All we can hope is for a better future...
