Astrid’s P.O.V.
Fast forwarding to after supper. I was upstairs in my room showering for the second time. I went into my bedroom put my dress on; fixed my hair, and put on a bit of makeup since I didn’t need a lot on cause my skin is already pale without it. I started rummaging through my closet trying to find the right pair of dress shoes to wear so I ended up finding a pair of high heel shoes. It was an hour left till the dance and Duke promised me that he would be here already so we could drive around a bit before the dance. Because I had two pockets in my dress I could fit my phone in it so I grabbed the phone and tried calling Duke but he didn’t answer his phone. Matt came down the stairs and said, “Is Duke supposed to be here by now?” I nodded my and Matt said, “That guy has some nerve being late.” It was ten minutes before the dance was supposed to start and still no Duke.
Matt came over to me with keys in his hand and said, “I’ll take you to the dance, alright?” I nod my head, we get into dad’s car and I say, “How come were not in your jeep?” I turn the radio on and I have no idea what the song is and Matt says, “Dad told me I had to take his car, he didn’t give a reason behind it.” I nodded my head and then both of us were silent during the whole ride there and as soon as we got there it was only four minutes till the dance was supposed to start. I saw Chika and Anthony sitting on a bench waiting for me and as soon as I got out of the car, said my goodbye to Matt and when I turned around there they were. Chika smiled at me and said, “Where’s Duke at?” I smiled back at her and said, “He didn’t show up.” Anthony shook his head and said, “That bastard has some nerve ditching you like that.” I shrug my shoulders and say, “It’s fine, let’s go inside.”
Chika grabbed my hand and all three of us went inside and Chika says, “Did you want us to stay with you?” I shook my head and said, “Go have fun.” Chika looked at Anthony then back at me and said, “Are you sure?” I nodded my head and they left to go dance. I found a spot to sit down and I was sitting on that chair for thirty minutes when I saw a pair of legs. I looked up thinking it was Duke but it wasn’t him it was someone I didn’t know. He pointed to the chair next to me on left and he says, “May I sit next to you?” I nodded my head and he sat next to me and I say, “What’s your name?” He smiled at me and said, “My name is Maxx, what’s yours?”
I smiled at him and said, “Astrid.” Maxx stood up, got in front of me and said, “Do you want to dance with me, Astrid?” I nodded my head, stood up and walked over to the dance floor with Maxx. We started dancing and during the middle of the third song Maxx pulled me closer to him and just when were about ready to kiss, somebody pulled me towards them. I turned to see Duke extremely pissed off. Duke pulled me outside and he yelled out, “What the fuck are you doing almost kissing another guy?!” I slapped him across the face and said, “Why the fuck do you care, you were the one who never showed up!” Duke grabbed my hand and said, “I was called in to help set up and I was late to come and pick you up and I apologize for that.” I put my hand on his cheek and then I said, “I’m sorry too.”
I heard the door shut behind me so I turned around and saw Maxx standing there and then Duke pulled me towards him. Maxx took his jacket off, layed it on the ground, rolled his sleeves up and said to Duke, “Take your jacket off and let’s fight.” Duke lets go of me, takes off his jacket, drapes it over me and kisses me on the lips before he stands in front of Maxx ready for a fight. Maxx started taunting Duke to take the first punch so Duke ran up to Maxx and he threw the first punch. Maxx spat out the blood that he had in his mouth and he shouts out to Duke, “It’s on now!” Duke dodged Maxx’s punch to the face and then Duke punched Maxx’s stomach, forcing him to go on the ground and then Duke did one more blow to the face. Just when you thought it was over, Maxx grabbed Duke’s leg, tripping him and then Maxx got on top of Duke delivering punch after punch until I ran over there and got Maxx off of Duke. I helped Duke up off the ground and then I got in front of Duke so that Maxx wouldn’t try anything and then Maxx left but then he stopped beside me and says, “I’ll see you later Astrid, in the meantime remember my last name, its Johnson.” Duke turned me around after Maxx left and then he pulled me into a tight hug that lasted for six whole minutes.
