•Kacey•

Its Thursday afternoon and I'm sitting in my room with the news paper. I figure if I want to start singing it will be good to start in a local restaurant.

Most of the adds I have come across have been big let downs but one stands out.

It's for a restaurant called Beats Restaurant. They are having an open mic night competition. The winner gets five hundred dollars and a job singing every Friday night. I'm not sure if I'm up for it though.

However I have to decide before  Saturday. I'm going to the park that afternoon with April and Rose but the competition is after dark. I think I might bring April with me.

I want to have someone there with me. I had really wanted to bring Ash in the beginning but the more I think about it the more I don't want to bring him.

Ash is hot tempered like me. So if anything bad happened he wouldn't be any help. Because he's a player I might lose him. It's happened before. He would drag me somewhere and then a girl would catch his attention and I wouldn't see him for several hours. If I fail I need someone to really be there and help me through it. It's not that Ash won't be, it's just he might not be around.

So I've decided that I want to bring April with me instead. I still haven't really repaid the girl for the help she has given me and I think letting her know my secret could be a way to make up for everything.

April is also a very calm person so I know she'll be able to keep me calm and she won't start trouble or ditch me. I don't know what she'll think of me wanting to be a singer but god I hope she supports me.

Oh crap I have to get to school. These two days will be rough. The last days before I start working towards my dream.

As the light turns green I step on the gas, making my van lurch forward.

I'm currently on my way to Kacey's house. I can't wait to meet Rose. From what I've heard from the others, Rose is super sweet and adorable. I love children.

I've brought gummy bears for Kacey and several different chocolates for Rose and I. I'm so excited I can't stop jittering around in my seat.

I pull into their driveway, grabbing my purse and the candy before getting out the car.

The state of this house always surprises me. It's really old and battered. The paint is pealing and the porch railing is broken. The yard however is decorated with and assortment of beautiful flowers. It goes to show that even when things seem rough their is always a happy or brighter side to the situation.

I knock softly on the old wooden door.

I hear thuds as someone runs through the house to get to the door and seconds later Kacey flings the door open and smiles at me. I laugh and hug her as she pulls me in the house.

"Hey Kacey." I say pulling away from her.

"Hello."

"Oh here, this is for later." I say passing the bag of candy to Kacey.

"Thanks. You didn't have to do this." she says smiling.

"No it fine. I wanted to." I say looking around at some of the pictures hanging on the walls. Most of the pictures are just of Rose, Kacey and their mother, but there is only one picture of Kacey and her dad when she was just a baby. As I continue inspecting the hall  I glance just behind Kacey and I see an adorable little girl.
