Chapter 15: Plane Rides and Karaoke

"Kacey calm down everything will be fine." April says trying to calm my nerves.

Currently Ash, Clarity, Kate, April, and I are walking through the airport. This place is packed and the people range from big families to business men in suits. The sound of rolling suitcases and the chatters of people waiting to board their plane fills the airport.

"How do you know that? We're going to be miles above the ground in a heavy metal machine that shouldn't even be able to fly, and your telling me that everything will be fine?" I say as I panic and play with the hem of my jacket.

Alright so maybe I'm really nervous about this whole thing. I've never been flying in my seventeen years of life and then suddenly here I am getting on a plane to go on a week long vacation with my three friends.

"Look at me." April says, pulling my face to look at her. "These people are trained to pilot planes. We'll be safe with them. People have been flying for decades now and you hardly ever hear about them crashing. It's such a slim chance that it's nearly impossible that we are getting on the one plane that will crash out of the thousands that are flying."

Just looking into April's beautiful blue eyes calms my nerves but I really needed the pep talk. She's right we'll be fine and land safely in the mountains with no problem.

"Okay." I say and stare into her blue eyes for a few more seconds before pulling my head away and continuing to follow Ash, Clarity, and Kate.

As we go through our gate and up the ramp to the plane, my heart beat quickens. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do this.

I let April go in front of me since she'll be sitting next to me and I have no idea which seat is ours at this point. April, Kate, and I will be sitting on the same row but Ash and Clarity will be together a few rows back.

April takes her seat at the window as I slide in to sit in the middle so that Kate can sit on the outside.

As more passengers load onto the plane I can't help but feel anxious. I start to tap my foot nervously and peer around at other passengers who seem perfectly happy to be on a plane.

After several minutes of me tapping my foot April places her hand on my knee and squeezes it reassuringly, effectively getting me to stop tapping my foot.

"We are going to be fine. Relax. Think about how much fun we're going to have when we get there. Don't think about the flight." April tries to calm my nerves and get my mind off the thing that is worrying me to no end.

I take her advice and begin to let my mind wander to all the crazy activities that we will have a chance to do this week. At the end of the week they are calling for some snow so that is going to be super fun but the rest of the days we have to find ways to entertain ourselves. I know that there are plenty of shops to check out in the small town of Gatlinburg. I've been doing some research for the past few days and the town is just a quaint mountain town that attracts tourist from so many different backgrounds. Ash says he has some fun stuff planned since he's been there before and he knows all the fun activities.

I can't wait to see the cabin we will be staying in. According to Ash it is beautiful and it may or not have a game room. I love me some fucking video games. I know that I don't have a console but over the years and visits to Ash's house I'd say that I'm pretty kickass at most games. Apparently we will even have internet at the cabin and I guess that's pretty great. But the main thing is I will get to spend time with my friends all week, especially a certain red head, who I know is really excited.

Because I managed to get lost in my thoughts I hadn't been paying any attention to my surroundings in the slightest. Because of this I was highly confused when everyone started buckling their seat belt. I look over at April and see that she too has just strapped herself into the seat of the airplane.
