In my hazy half asleep state I hear a knock on me and Kacey's door. So as to not wake the small girl in my arms I call out softly to whoever is knocking.
"Come in."
The door opens slowly with a light click. Ash peeks his head out from behind the door before coming completely into the room.
"Good morning. I see that the trouble maker is still asleep." Ash whispers to me with a small smirk.
"Yeah you know how she loves her sleep. But what brings you in here this early?" I ask him curiously.
"Well you see there has been a small problem. A big snow storm kind of rolled in last night and it's not supposed to be going anywhere soon, so our flight back home has been canceled." Ash explains.
"Well that doesn't seem too bad. How long is the flight put off until?" I ask him still whispering as I feel Kacey shift slightly and push herself closer to my front.
"Well ugh....you see we are kind of going to have to spend Christmas here." Ash says sheepishly while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Shit." I say with a small sigh.
I mean it's not the worst way to spend Christmas since I'll be with my friends. But it definitely isn't the most convenient since this will be the first Christmas I won't spend with my family.
"Are you mad at me?" Ash asks me nervously.
"Of course I'm not mad at you. It was a sudden snow storm, you had nothing to do with it and no way to know that it was going to happen. It's just weird not to be home for Christmas." I whisper and feel myself hug Kacey tighter for comfort.
"I know I just feel bad." Ash sighs. "Let me go tell Clarity and Kate the bad news."
With that Ash is gone out of our room and I sigh once more before burying my face into Kacey's hair. This Christmas is definitely going to be interesting.
"What's wrong Sunshine?" I hear Kacey's extra raspy morning voice ask me as she turns in my arms so that she can face me.
"Well Ash informed me just a few moments ago that a snow storm has moved in and out flight has been delayed until after Christmas, meaning we are all spending Christmas together here." I tell Kacey just deciding to break all the news to her at one time.
"Are you fucking serious?" Kacey groans, her morning voice still evident.
"I'm sorry to say that I am." I sigh knowing just how family oriented Kacey is.
"I actually saved my extra money from Beats to buy my mom and Rosey decent presents. But now I won't even be there to give their presents to them." Kacey whines as she lays her head on my chest seeking comfort.
"I'm sorry Kace. Isn't there anyway that they would still be able to get their presents on Christmas though?" I decide that if she can't give them their presents personally it would still be nice for them to receive them on Christmas Day.
"Well Rose's gifts are in the back corner of my closet already wrapped so mom could get them out for her. But the gift I got for mom is still at the store as I asked them to watch it for me until I got back from vacation." Kacey says and I smile down at her.
