Hey everyone!!! Author's note at the beginning of the chapter this time because I CAN! Quick apology for taking a month to post this, but I've been busy. (And I felt terrible during the weekend when I wanted to update because I got my wisdom teeth out.) Anyways, this is the crossover chapter I mentioned before. I'm using a character from the story Nine Lives by a good friend of mine, TatsuyaSeiei . I kind of owe him a favor because he gave me several ideas for the sequel (including M.U.F.F.I.N.S.), plus crossovers are fun.
One final thing, thank you to everyone for your input in my last author's note. I have decided that I WILL be writing Lightning with two POV's. Starting in chapter 5, you guys will be able to see Ryan's side of the story!! Hope you guys like it. I'll shut up now and let you guys actually read my story. Enjoy!!
"I'd like to officially welcome you to M.U.F.F.I.N.S.," Dr. Carson says as we enter the M.U.F.F.I.N.S. Headquarters. We walk up to the main desk. After I'm formally introduced and registered as a M.U.F.F.I.N.S. agent, Dr. Carson calls for someone else to show me around a bit more.
"You remember Vita, right?" he asks me when the short blonde haired girl from the other day shows up.
"Yes, I do," I answer. "Hello, Vita."
"Good afternoon, Kyleigh," she greets. "I'm told I'm supposed to show you the ropes around here?"
"As long as you're free," Dr. Carson says.
"Well, I'm not on assignment right now, so I'd be glad to." Vita smiles. "Let's go!"
We leave Dr. Carson and Vita gives me a more detailed tour of the facility.
"So, you're the girl behind the mysterious black mask?"
"Well, I was..." I reply, "Before it was no longer a mystery."
Vita chuckles. "You're new to the whole undercover game, huh?"
"I suppose you could say that..."
"Don't worry about it. After a few weeks of training here, you become an expert." We stop outside of an office area. "This is the Assignments Office," Vita explains. "It's basically the place where assignments, missions, whatever you'd like to call them, are planned and recorded. The teams are strategically organized based on the assignment. Once you've finished your training and your strengths have been determined, your name will be added to the list of field agents picked for the assignment teams."
"Are you a field agent?" I ask.
"Yes, but when I'm not on assignment, I have several other jobs that I help out with here. While field agents find the most action on the job, there are many others working behind the scenes, such as those working in the tech lab across the hall."
We enter the tech lab, a room I visited once before, but today, there are a few other people in the room, hard at work, designing weapons or gadgets of some sort.
"Oh, have you met your number one fan yet?" Vita asks, motioning to a boy I vaguely recognize who is sitting at a desk busily sketching out a design.
"Brian? Yeah, I met him last time," I respond, remembering the previous encounter.
"He seems busy, so we won't bother him, then," Vita decides as we walk on. "Do you have any questions at all?"
