I just keep taking longer and longer with these updates... But hey! I'm back! I kind of spent a few weeks away from working on this book entirely because the summer has been pretty hectic and I needed some time for myself. I'm glad you guys were patient enough to wait for me to come back.
How has summer break been for you guys? I'm curious. Between all the stress from getting ready for college and such, I've gone to the Dominican Republic, spent a week at camp, and even went to another Selena Gomez concert (all of which were really fun)!
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. Quick warning: I finished this at 1 in the morning and I'm too tired to proofread so I apologize in advance for any possible errors in grammar, spelling, etc.
Before I go, here's another fanart by CHL_Milligan

Ryan's POV:
"When you're working with these kinds of problems, it's important to remember the quadratic formula," Mrs. Jorgensen explains as she demonstrates how to solve the math equation on the board. Everyone in the class writes down the notes displayed on the board as she explains them, well everyone except the few students who don't care whatsoever and are staring not-so-discreetly at their phone screens. And Kyleigh, a few desks away from me who I notice seems to be spacing off once I've finished writing my notes. I assume she already knows exactly how to do today's lesson. Unlike me, she actually is good at math. One of the students in the back of the room decides to cause some trouble by throwing a wadded up piece of paper at another student in the front row while Mrs. Jorgensen has her back turned. The kid in the front row turns and looks at the other kid angrily, while the kid in the back row laughs silently. He throws the paper back at the first kid as the teacher turns around. Mrs. Jorgensen takes some time to scold the two boys for being a distraction before clicking to the next slide of notes on her presentation and continuing on with her lesson.
Suddenly, Kyleigh says, "Wait, can you go back? I don't have my notes yet." Huh, so she was spacing off. I notice her copy the notes on the board rather quickly before she says, "Okay, I'm good."
Mrs. Jorgensen continues teaching for what feels like forever. Eventually she gives us our assignment and class ends.
As I am getting my things out of my locker, Kyleigh sneaks up behind me and hugs me. "Hi, Ryan!"
"Oh, hey!" I respond, turning to face her.
"You know, you seemed a bit lost during part of Mrs. Jorgensen's class today," she comments jokingly.
"Well, you know math isn't really my thing," I respond. "I actually thought you seemed a bit off yourself today."
"Yeah," she says. "I'm kind of tired today. I don't think I slept very well last night."
