Chapter 15

I can't believe my mother, I thought she would have come around by now.  It's been a week since I've been out of the hospital.  She's being unreasonable.  I can't just give Aurora to someone else.  Yes, after I decided to keep my daughter I changed her name.  Her name is now Aurora Destiny Gotlins.  I don't want her to have her father's name since he doesn't know about her.

This past week has been difficult.  Luckily Aurora sleeps throughout the day and then wakes up for about an hour at least 5 times a day.  Other than that she is an angel.  Since mom won't let me in the house I've been staying at a hotel.  Dad comes by every day and checks on me and feeds Aurora a couple times a day.  He doesn't spend the night but that's okay since she sleeps through it mostly.

I've been thinking about doing something that I should do for Aurora's benefit.  I should take her to Jason and let him take care of her until I have a job and enough money to really take care of her.  I can find an apartment, a job, finish school and get anything that my baby needs while I know that she is being taken care of by someone that I trust.  I will graduate in just a few months, three to be exact and then I can take Aurora back perhaps in the middle of the summer.  Jason won't want her for very long, so that won't be a problem to take her back.

At 4 in the afternoon there's a knock at my hotel door.

"Hey daddy.  Aurora is asleep," I tell him quietly.

"Good, how are you baby?" he kisses my cheek and comes in.

"Doing okay.  I had a realization this morning."

            "Oh really? What is that?"

"I'm going to take Aurora to her father and he can take care of her until I am able to."

"Are you sure?  Have you even talked to him?  Who is he?  Does he even know about her?"

"Daddy, relax.  I have it handled.  He doesn't know about her, I haven't talked to him.  I trust him, he'll take care of her.  It's his job."

"Now answer the other question Lucy.  Who is he?"

I stay silent for a long time but is only a couple minutes.  "Daddy, he can get in trouble.  I don't want you to call or say anything to anyone. Okay?"

            "Fine, now who is he?"

"He's my English teacher." I answer shyly.

"LUCY! You slept with a teacher!"

"Shhhhh, she's sleeping.  Yes, but... I don't know.  He was so nice and caring about everything in my life.  You and mom were always gone and he was there."

"But Lucy," he said with a little hesitation, "we could have come home at any time."  Thanks dad, real comforting.

"I'm going to leave in the morning with Aurora.  I'll give her to Jason and make sure she'll be okay there and stay for just a couple of days and then come home.  Mom ought to be happy by then, that I gave my daughter to someone else.  Maybe then she'll let me come home."

"I'm sure she will baby girl, I'm sure she will.  But will you be okay with Aurora not being around you every day?"

"It's only going to be until I can provide for her myself, then I'm taking her back.  She is my daughter and I will have her back.  That's it."

            "Lucy, it's not that simple."

"Yes it is! Aurora will be fine with Jason for a few months and then I will go back and get her.  If you aren't going to be supportive of that, then leave."

"I am being supportive.  I'm sure she will be fine with him but what if he gets attached to her?"

"He won't.  I'm gonna feed Aurora and go to bed.  We'll leave in the morning.  I'll be back by Saturday."

"Alright angel, if you are sure.  I'll support whatever you want to do.  I better get going.  I'll see you when you get back."

"Okay daddy,"  I walked him to the door and kissed his cheek.
