Scorpio wanted to meet up before school, just to eat breakfast at some place. I was disappointed when I realized that place was Starbucks, but I wasn't complaining. I just prefer Dunkin Donuts, or tea.
The place was unsurprisingly packed. It was early and everyone was headed to work, or school. We made our orders and then found a table to sit at, near the window. It was foggy today and had rained over the night, so it smelled like..rain (if that makes sense). I liked it. "So Miss..." I looked up from my phone and at Scorpio, who was surprisingly wide awake and hyper this morning. "What?" I replied. "What do you want to do after school?" He asked. "What makes you think I'm hanging out with you?" I joked. "Because you've been at my house like everyday now." He spoke truthfully. "Not by choice. That woman won't leave my house." I muttered. "I think you should try and talk to her." He said. I stared at him in disgust. "No." I spoke like a child. He rolled his eyes. "I understand why you don't want to, but she's going to be apart of your life. You might as well." He said. I nodded. "It's not that simple though." I said. "Believe me, I understand. I don't get along with my mom at all. But this weekend I have to meet up with her at this dumb ass get together." He added, racing his finger over patters on the table. "How come you don't talk about your mom?" I asked suddenly. His hand motions stopped almost immediately. "She was never really a mother, that's why." He said. "I mean, like...What happened after that fight you had with your stepdad?" I asked. He huffed in annoyance. "Well...She kicked me out. So for a while I was just living around. I stayed with my older brother for the summer and he hooked me up with a job back here, cause he knows people. So I started working and was qualified to get emancipated. Got my own house and well I haven't really talked to her. Maybe once a year since, but.." He shrugged. That made me think. "What kind of job?" I asked. He stared up at me, like I was speaking a foreign language. "Uh..What do you mean?" I rolled my eyes. "I mean, how do you afford to pay for the house." I said. "I got people." He shrugged. "People?" I chuckled. "Seriously, tell me." I added. "I can't tell you." He said. "Are you serious?" I asked. "Dead ass." He stated. My name was called and so was Scorpio's. "Thanks." I thanked the guy at the counter. He was so cute and also had dreads that actually went with him. Of course, I was keeping my cool, cause I'm taken now. "Here you go cutie." He said. I smiled and decided I wouldn't say anything in order to not seem like a flirt. "I couldn't spell your name, so I just left a little summary." He chuckled. I began reading it off the cup. I had forgotten Scorpio was right behind me. "Would you stop flirting with my girl and give me my damn order?" I quickly turned to look at him. "Oh, sorry." The guy spoke, sheepishly. He shyly went to give Scorpio his drink. While Scorpio purposefully made sure to stare him down. He put a hand around my waist as we left the counter and headed toward the door. "I thought we were staying for a little while." I said. "Not if little dude thinks you're on display." He scowled. I smirked. "Oo you're jelly." I spoke as we walked through the parking lot. He didn't reply. He opened the car door and got inside as I got into the passenger's side. "Are you mad?" I joked. "Hell yeah, I'm mad." He said as he started the car. "What? Why? You act like I was flirting with him." I laughed at his petty behavior. "You were smiling way too hard for my liking." He replied. I stared at him, surprised. He sighed, realizing how ridiculous he sounded. "Okay, okay. Never mind, it's just..I do not like how he just flirted with you in front of me. Like tf." I smiled. He was so cute jealous. "So can we go back in?" "Uh no. We'll just get an apple at school. There, every guy knows not to look at you." He replied as we pulled out. I was annoyed, but glad that he was so jealous at the moment. But I still couldn't get that question out of my head.
How the hell does he manage to have money all the time? A house? A car?
Where is he working?
Not knowing bothered me terribly.
Why would he be keeping secrets?
