Blue, red, and white.Blue, red, and white.
Blue, red, and white.
I focused on only three colors.
Blue, red, and white.
The colors meant so much to America.
The flag, our foundation, our pride, our independence. But at the moment those colors meant something else to me.Blue was the color of the new left eye that I had given to Ally.
Red was the color that was shedding from her bottom lip.
White represented my mind. It was blank. I couldn't think at all.
But most importantly, all colors put together represented the lights. The lights I saw as I was escorted out of the school building, in handcuffs. They represented the sirens and police cars. They represented the police.
I didn't realize the damage I had caused. I didn't care.
~~~~~~~~I sat in the cell, thinking about what would possibly happen to me. What's next? How could I be so dumb. I've been here for a while. My dad had stopped by and explained that he was going to meet with someone to see if he could get me out of the situation. He explained to me that I should be fine, because Ally had turned 18 over the weekend and I'm only 16. He also said there was a video tagged to Facebook page of the fight and it shows her hitting me first. To be honest, I feel comfortable about the whole thing. Either way, dad was disappointed, of course. I guess a decision was being made on if I was going straight to the Juvenile Detention Center, or if I was going home. Most likely, I am going home, because this is the only crime I've ever been caught for. I sat on the uncomfortable bench that was in the waiting cell. There was an obviously intoxicated woman across from me. She had passed out an hour ago. I just kept to myself, quietly. Finally my dad had showed back up to take me home. He explained that it wasn't me who'd be getting charged. "So who's getting charged?" I asked. "Well the other girl, because she's grown and she hit first. But she decided not to press charges, because she knew she could end up in jail, so really there is no case. But you still gon' have to wait for a set date for court. Ain't much to worry about though." He explained. I immediately felt relieved. "But you're still in trouble. I requested for you to be put on probation." He said. "What?" I shouted. "Yeah, for unruly teen. You've been acting out lady and you know damn well I won't be the one to put up with it." I was so shocked. "How have I been acting up?" I asked. "I don't have to explain myself. Now go to the car and wait there while I fill out this paperwork." He said. I couldn't believe what he had just told me. Unruly? I walked through the parking lot with a huge attitude.
"Amira!" I immediately recognized Scorpio's voice and turned in the direction it came from. I lightened up a bit. I can't believe he really came here to see me. I began rushing toward him, not noticing the short, petite dark haired woman by his side as we approached each other. I was embraced with a hug. That's when I noticed her. She looked a lot like his sister, just smaller. She had a look of disgust and annoyance on her face. "So I need to know, Miss.." Scorpio began talking. "Why'd you go off on Ally like that?" He said with a look of disappointment, but in a way he seemed satisfied..It was confusing. I looked over his shoulder at the woman, ignoring his question. He eyes followed my gaze. "Oh, uh. This is my mom." He announced. I was completely surprised. "Oh...Hi." I said awkwardly. Now why the hell would he let me meet his mom at a police station? I wasn't nervous, but more upset. He knew I was going to go in on him later for this. She didn't reply. "I'll just be in the car." She replied to him before walking off. My eyes widened. He stopped his mom from leaving. "You said you wanted to see her and meet her. So you're going to meet her." He argued with the woman. "Okay and I see her." She responded. "That's all you have to say? You're just gonna be rude about it?" He said. She sighed and looked at me, as if she were observing me. "She's pretty...but she's black." My eyes widened. I didn't think I could be more surprised. Duh, I'm black.. "Yeah, I am." I spoke up. "There's nothing wrong with it, Shawn. I just wish you would have warned me." She said to him. "What the hell would I have to warn you about? I'm picking you up from the police station, because you decided to get arrested for possession of drugs and you want me to warn you that my girlfriend has brown skin? Don't you have more important things to worry about!" I was surprised. Not at his outburst, but because his mom had drugs. Sadly, I knew the feeling. She gasped. "Do not sit here and try to make me look bad!" I was beginning to feel awkward. "You look bad on your own. If you don't want to have a decent conversation with her, then go to the car, like you said you would." He said. She huffed, then turned to me. "Look, I'm sorry. Okay? It's been a long day and I'm just surprised. I never knew he liked..black gir-" "Okay, just go. I don't think you realize how ignorant you sound. Save yourself the embarrassment, Woman. Just go." He rolled his eyes. I stood there awkwardly as they argued. Finally, she just left. He looked at me. "Sorry." He said. I chuckled. "Maybe she really was just surprised." I joked. "No, she's just rude." He said. "So she got arrested?" I asked. He chuckled. "I can tell you about that later." He said. "Alright." "Look, I'm gonna go take her home. But is it alright if I come over later?" He said. "I don't even know, I'm kinda on lock down, right now." I said. "I'll just show up." He smiled. "No, don't do it. My dad will-" "I'm kidding." He laughed as he pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back and made sure I got a kiss before we parted ways.
