Together Again

Chapter 12

Hayes's POV

"When can we climb our tree?" Kat asks me and I'm glad, little does she know about a year ago

"Soon I promise" I say before reaching over Kat into the picnic basket and pull out the rose I put in there earlier

"For you my love" I say handing the rose to Kat

"Thanks you so much Hayes, I can't believe you did all of this for me" she said hugging me as I kissed the top of her head

"Well you better believe it" I say before walking towards the tree and start climbing it

"What are you waiting for, come on" I say as I run over to the tree and start climbing it as Kat climbs up behind me

Once I reach our branch I sit down and reach my hand out to grab Kat's, I pull her up and I watch as her eyes immediately grow wide at all our carving still there untouched, now a dark brown from being here for so long, little does she know I have been coming up here once a month and last month I added a new carving saying 'will you be my girlfriend?' hoping I would be able to bring her up here one day and ask her, and here we are today

"Naw Hayes this is so cute, all our old drawings" she says as I see her look over at my new carving and her eyes go wide

"What's this?" she asks me with her eyes still wide and I smile

"Kat I've known you for almost my whole life, and the four years we weren't together were the worst years of my life, I'm so glad Amanda threw her ridiculous party, because if she hadn't my life would still be horrible, so Kat, will you be my girlfriend?" I ask her and she smiles in excitement and jumps into my arms almost causing us to fall off the branch

"Woah be careful, you know we have a history in falling over and we don't want to fall off the tree, especially now that I can call you mine" I say and she laughs

"Hey I never said yes" she says smirking and I frown

"Oh... Sorry... I just thought since you got excited that you know" She starts laughing and hugs me

"Of course it's a yes Hayes I was just joking, I only know how to speak a few languages but so, yes, si, ne, hai" She says and I laugh

"Where did you pick up all those languages?" I say to her and she smiles as I put my hand around her and she puts her hand around me leaning her head on my shoulder

"Well I am Greek and English and I learnt Japanese at school plus I do karate where we speak Japanese at times, simple words like yes and things like that and I am currently learning Italian at school but everyone should know si anyway" She says to me and I smile at her, she make me proud to be her boyfriend, wow, she is finally mine

"You still do karate? How many years now? Didn't you start when we were in grade one?" I say and she nods her head

"Yeah, still going, I've been doing it for ten years now yes, since grade one" she says as she looks down admiring all of our carvings as she runs her finger along them, I see her stop at the new one of where I asked her to be my girlfriend and she stares at it for a while before grabbing a stick off the branch and carving something next to it

Once she puts the stick down then blows over her new carving to remove any particles and smiles satisfied at what she drew, it was a drawing of us as stick figures sitting on the branch with our arms around each other with a speech bubble coming from my mouth and going around the 'will you be my girlfriend?' and she also has a speech bubble and inside it, it says 'yes!' I smile at her drawing and look up at her before I could say anything I felt her lips on mine
