Chapter 9

Katherine's POV

"I wasn't going to let you pay, what kind of best friend would I be if I did that?" Hayes says to me as he walks closer to me, great, 'Best friend zoned' hopefully that is just for now, I mean he said he liked me, was he lying?

"Alright, Alright, but that is the last time that is happening okay?" I say, knowing us this wont be the last time we fight over who is paying for what so I just agree for now, maybe later I can slip some money in his wallet when he isn't paying attention

Just as we were getting up to leave the last person I wanted to see came up to us, I looked over to Hayes and my face immediately dropped

"Hey Babe, what are you doing with this loser.."

Jamie, Jamie Scott it had to be her, I have to admit I wouldn't have recognised her if I hadn't heard her annoying voice, she looks so different, but not it a good way, her natural blonde hair was now died a dark brown and looked like straw because of how many dead ends she had and she had caked on so much makeup I couldn't even see her face, she wasn't one bit natural like she used to be, she used to look half decent but now.. i don't even know what to say, I cant even believe she is here I never wanted to see her again, I would even rather have seen Amanda than her, I bet you're wondering who she is, let me explain

In primary school it wasn't always just me and Hayes, yes I lied I said before that is what but that is because Jamie was only with us for about two months before she pulled the move she did, she also then left the school the next week, this all happened in year six, Jamie knew that I thought I had feelings toward Hayes, I never actually knew in primary school that I did but I told Jamie to see what she would think, biggest mistake ever, the day after I told her she was purposely all over Hayes and she even broke me and Hayes up, she fed Hayes all this false information about me which forced him not to hang around with me for a week before I got Nash to tell him my side of the story, Jamie then bashed me because Hayes didn't want to hang around with her anymore, I would have defended myself if I didn't already have a sprained ankle which she made worse.

But I am confused why she called him babe... they haven't seen each other recently... have they?

"Hayes why did she call you babe?" I asked Hayes quietly but obviously not quiet enough because Jamie heard and interrupted

"Go on Hayes, tell her" she says and I look up at Hayes, he looked extremely worried and nervous'

"Hayes what is she talking about?" I say to Hayes as he rubs the back of his head and looks at Jamie as if to say, don't you dare say anything

"Listen Kat I can exp..." Hayes starts but is cut off by Jamie

"Hayes and I are dating" I look at her in disbelief and laugh a little

"Go on Hayes, tell her, she doesn't believe me" I look at Hayes and nudge him in hopes he would say she is crazy or something but he just sighs.. oh no..

"We aren't dating, but we were" Hayes says and I just stare at him, my mouth wide open in shock

"And who broke up with who Hayes?" Jamie says with a smirk

"She broke up with me, but Kat you have to understand that.." Hayes says but is cut off once again by Jamie

"Yeah, but I messaged you that I forgave you and wanted to get back together but you didn't reply so I took that as a yes, I'm actually here today because I was going to come over for a little bit" Jamie says and my head starts spinning, I want to go off and find Nash but I can't move Hayes reaches for my arm which gives me the courage to move again

"Don't touch me Hayes, I can't believe what I just heard" I say to him before I throw the remainder of my ice-cream on the ground and start running back towards the beach
