The guards tell her that the Gone hate her and blame her for the attack; that Peter no longer loves her like he used to, doesn't care, has abandoned her. But Snow White never listened. She swayed slightly, hiding the excruciating tormenting pain as her arms dangle her limp limbs from chains. Her feet slid wearily across the floor, glistening with splinters, scratches, cuts and nibbles were the rats have feasted. She can barely feel them anymore.

When the chains pierced her skin, Snow tried to close her eyes and pretend that Peter was in front of her, his eyes glistening with fresh tears of watching her torment and his fingers gently caressing the scars on her back, holding onto her and stroking her hair.

This is a lie.

A cruel, deceitful, evil lie.

Instead Peter was reclining and relaxing, deep within the forest of the country. Snow White wouldn't listen to he guards, but neither would she kid herself into thinking the opposite. Peter's beautiful smile would have disappeared by now, the light in his eyes fading. His freedom to see her was lost, the castellated towers of the forest weren't a refuge, but a prison. Peter was as much of a prisoner as Snow White was. Who knew what Queen Margarita had done. She promised Snow she wouldn't hurt Peter, but Snow knew she would go back on the deal if Snow refused to take her life when Queen Margarita thought the time was right. Queen Margarita would willingly hurt Peter so much that he may even wish for death. Snow knew she would.

The thought of this killed her and pained her more than the prison. She didn't have him by her side when she slept like she used to. There was no seeing each other tomorrow to train or laughing with one another during random, childish games. Peter was just in the forest outside the walls, walking distance away, but it was like he was on the other side of the Earth. It felt like more than distance between them.

Snow had lost a lot of confidence too. She didn't know if her feelings were correct. What if she did love Harry? What if she ended up with him, like their parents had planned? But her thoughts went back to Peter and these fears vanished, because nothing would be worse than what could happen to him. What if he no longer cares about her? What if, after all of their together, he had forgotten about her? What if he never forgot about her and was miserable for the rest of his life?

Peter couldn't comfort Snow when the torture was complete. He couldn't kiss her beautiful, plump, lips as red as blood anymore. But Snow felt like she couldn't even breath without him. The distance between them was more painful than the beatings. Snow felt like the air around her was suffocating her. Snow felt like this separation from him was killing her.

Snow sighed, swinging on her ropes and looking across the dark room, thinking about what a horrible, despicable place the dungeons were. She was in a tower, one of the nicest of the rooms, but she could hear the screams of pain and they sent shivers down her spine whenever the whip cracked against an unfortunate's skin, who dared to try to kill the Queen.

It was mesmerisingly cruel, that the Queen would punish these people like this. The screams never leave Snow mentally, but they rarely stop physically either. Never had such a young, innocent child seen so much suffering in her life. Never had Snow White felt so miserable that she couldn't help them, no matter how much they plea.

There were whippings and torturings. Sometimes they were simply held in the town square, in which the offender would also be publicly humiliated; Snow White could see these through the window in the corner of the room. However, the worst still were the ones she could not see. Those who committed treason or murder, or both, and were often tortured for information, or simply for fun. The screams haunted Snow and she hated Queen Margarita for giving her a tower that overlooked the heart of the dungeons.
