Snow White had almost forgotten her encounter with the Queen and what she had said to her. It seemed like a distant memory, which she hadn't discussed with her overprotective parents. In fact, after nearly six years, Snow White was beginning to wonder whether it ever happened or if it was just a dream.
Snow White's paper lay in front if her. She was glaring at it as if egging it to ignore her. Demanding for her to leave the essay with a deadline imminent and be distracted by letting the mischievous boy next to her distract her once again.
'Edward.' She groaned, once she felt his finger tap her shoulder from behind. He tapped her again, just to make sure that she felt it, not bothering to remind her that half an essay could be done in five minutes at the end of lunch break before English. English was one of Snow White's least favourite subjects, preferring art, dancing and music to all of the academia. If Edward did point this out, however, then she'd go crazy. 'Go away, will you? I have to get this essay done.'
'You work too hard, babe.' Edward reminded her, slipping into the chair beside her and continuously nudging her shoulder.
'Go away.' Snow White snapped. For two years, Edward had been trying to persuade her to date him, but she had scorned him time and time again. Unlike most other girl in the school, Snow White wasn't impressed by his extensive riches. In fact, she couldn't care less about how much money he had. Snow White always looked beyond this.
'You need to take a break and take a step back in order to have some fun and be who you really are.' Edward tried to persuade her. Snow White chuckled at this, but didn't reply. Before he started to ask her out, Edward and Snow had been close friends. When she refused him, she claimed that she still wanted to be friends, but the more he pestered her, the more she got annoyed with him and the harder it was to befriend him.
Despite his begging, which is something they both knew he usually doesn't do, she turned around to look deep into his eyes, swallowing. 'I need to finish this essay so I have enough time, Edward.' She turned around to face him, gazed at him sternly, then gently reached out to lightly, but forcefully, push him away with the palm of her hand.
'Fine.' Edward sighed dramatically, holding his hands up in surrender, before turning way again.
The summer breeze blew gently through the open window beside her, slightly ruffling her thin collar. Snow White sighed, frowning at the foul taste of graphite of her pencil in her mouth. The end of her pencil was always slightly bitten as she had such a short attention span, so her eyes were usually fixated on something much more interesting than the happenings of the classroom.
A finger gently tapped Edward's arm, dragging him from his usual daydreams and monotonous gazes out of the window. 'Yeah?' He snapped, turning around to see Snow White crystal blue eyes blinking up at him.
'I don't understand, did you hear what he said?' Snow White mumbled nervously biting her lip, admitting to something she rarely did to anyone who wasn't her friend, but she was beginning to trust Edward despite his constant nagging.
'You don't understand?' Edward spluttered, laughing nervously. This was very unusual for Snow White because she was normally good in class and payed attention. Her books were always neat, tidy and handed in on time. She never asked for help, just sat there and got on with the assignment. It always bewildered Edward how she managed to understand everything Mr Eastwood said, especially as his classes were invariably boring.
'Yes.' She repeated simply, tilting her head to one side as if trying to puzzle out Edward's reaction.
'Em, I think he said something about how Brönte makes...' He trailed off slowly, scratching his chin in confusion. Edward was never very good at listening to teachers that bore him in lessons that don't interest him. Edward riffled through the stack of worksheets until he found one suitable. 'Here,' He offered.
