“Keigo, will we all continue to live in fear of Satoru?” Kinu and her brother stood right outside the door leading to the cells below. They had stood guard without a word to each other for about half an hour, before Kinu decided to ask her brother the question.

“Hush. Do you want to be caught disrespecting our leader?” Keigo nervously looked around to make sure there was no one around that could have heard his sister.

“That’s what I’m talking about. Why must we live in fear? Why can’t we do anything about this? Is it because we simply can’t? Is Satoru so powerful that we can’t even lift a finger against him? If that’s so, then anyone who could possibly do anything about this is Akio and that half-demon woman that follows him. That woman, she can stand up to Satoru. She has the power to take him down.”

“Enough! You are speaking nonsense, Kinu. Our clan will never accept half-demons. We will never accept help from one, nor will we accept that traitor, Akio’s help. Now, enough talk about standing up to Leader-sama. We have no choice but to do as we are told. We have a job to do, so be on guard.” Keigo ordered half-heartedly, as he too was feeling the desire to be free of Satoru’s rule, just like everyone else.

Kinu frowned and looked to her brother with sad and regretful eyes. “I’m sorry you feel that way, brother. Forgive me for what I’m about to do then.” Keigo’s eyes widened in surprise as Kinu’s silk cloth flew from her shoulders and arms, and wrapped around him tightly. It happened so fast, that he could do nothing to avoid or counter the attack.

“I have to believe and trust that they can help. I no longer feel the need to hate or be fearful of them. Satoru is the one that we are threatened by, not them.” Kinu then brought her hands up to form a single hand sign, while her brother continued to struggle.

He couldn’t holler for help because the cloth had wrapped around his mouth. All he could do was give a few muffled cries that he knew would not be heard.

“Don’t worry, you’ll wake up in a few hours after I cast the jutsu,” Kinu formed another hand sign, “Sash Binding, Slumber.” The transparent silk sash began to glow lightly before sending it’s captive into a deep slumber.

Kinu caught her falling brother and, with a bit of effort, dragged him into an unoccupied room before reclaiming her sash. Before exiting the room, she stopped upon hearing the commotion outside and could sense a few unfamiliar signatures that had seemingly accompanied the half-demon woman that she and her brother knew was on her way to their clan grounds. If that was the case, then she had to hurry and help Akio get to them as quickly as possible so that they wouldn’t risk capture any longer than they had to. Without further delay, she ran out the room and though the door that led down to the cells.

Despite being in the lower floor of the building, Akio could feel the electrical surge in the air and prayed that it was not coming from Hisayo. Surly Karasu hadn’t disobeyed his wishes by telling her the situation. If he had, then he would be sure to give that over-grown raven a piece of his mind.

His thoughts were sharply interrupted as a large draft blew in from the upper level, triggering his body to shiver uncontrollably. The sudden movements of his body caused him to cringe in pain. However, the light sound of the door creaking open -or was it closed?- made him lift his head up and freeze. After a few moments of hearing nothing, he lowered his head back down. It had probably been nothing. His head was still swimming, so it was probably just his imagination.

“Akio.” A voice whispered from just in front of him on the other side of the door.

At first he thought he was just hearing things again, but the voice called out to him a second time and this time he could hear and recognize it.
