Chapter 8
Eventually Jesse’s band finished and they came off the stage. As soon as they were off Aston was up there with a mischievous grin on his face looking straight at me.
“Okay everyone, now that that’s over let’s getting some bass behind this!” He spoke loudly managing to sound as if he wasn’t yelling. “Before we start I’d like to say a special thanks to Zarah.” He winked at me and I laughed. “Hope you enjoy it!”
Then he pulled a guitar over his shoulder and the band started to play.
The crowd was jumping and cheering and it looked as if everyone was enjoying it except Ant and Jesse. I walked over to the table they were sitting at and tried to smile. “Come and dance with me.”
Jesse shook his head. “I think I’m going to head off. Do you want a lift?”
I shook my head. “They’ve only just started I’m going to stay, Cleo and I can catch the bus home.”
He shrugged. “Okay, see you on Monday?”
I nodded and turned to Ant. “I’ll see you Ant.”
He looked up at me and gave me a small smile. “I guess.”
I sighed, feeling better that he didn’t hate me as much. “Great, see you then.”
They lifted their hands to wave and I turned away weaving through the crowd to try and find Cleo.
“Hey, where have you been?” She asked when I found her.
I shrugged then winked. “Around, what about you?”
“Same,” She smirked and placed her hands on her hips. “Where are they going?”
I looked over to where she was and saw Ant and Jesse walk out the door. “I don’t know. I asked them to dance and they said they were going to leave. I think Jesse’s pissy about his brother.”
Cleo rolled her eyes. “That’s stupid.”
“I know right.” I shook my head and pulled on her arm dragging her into the middle of the swarm of people dancing in the middle of the floor.
Once the song was over everyone started cheering and clapping and I heard Aston laugh up the front. “I’m so glad we’re playing here!” He said loudly. “We’re going to have a quick break but we’ll be back in ten!”
Then put his guitar on the stand and stalked off the stage.
I looked at Cleo. “I was just starting to get into it.”
She shook her head and laughed. “They’ll be back, don’t you worry.”
“Hey Zarah,” Aston said from behind me. “Did Jesse leave?”
I turned around to face him and nodded. “Yeah, why?”
He cursed. “I had to listen to his shit the least he could do was stay and listen to half of mine.”
“I tried to get him to stay but he said he was tired.” I explained.
“I thought you might have left with him.” He told me.
I shook my head and grinned. “No way, I wouldn’t just leave after I pushed so hard just to get you guys to play. I didn’t just do it for you, you know.”
I rolled his eyes and snorted. “Right, of course you didn’t. Do you want a drink?”
I nodded and turned to Cleo. “What about her?”
“Little Cleo,” He said sarcastically. He sounded harsh. “Sure, what do you want?”
“Whatever you’re getting for her.” She said tiredly.
