Chapter 23
Later that night Ash and I were lying on his bed staring up at the roof. We’d been talking for hours and I think we’d finally run out of breath.
Ash turned his head to look at me and he smiled.
“So I know I’m supposed to be cheering you up and everything but…what happened?” He asked me, his voice sounded slightly worried.
I shifted closer to him on the bed and he put his arm around me. “Cleo hates me; she pretty much called me a slut. I was wrong to think everything was okay between us after the Jesse misunderstanding.”
Ash stiffened underneath me a little and then laughed. “Well if I can look past that then I don’t see why she can’t. Is she mad at Jesse?”
I shook my head. “Nope, she was defending him.”
Ash rubbed the side of my cheek softly and sighed. “I actually liked Cleo too, I thought she was cool.”
“Yeah, so did I.” I mumbled quietly.
Suddenly I felt my pocket vibrate. I giggled and sat up, pulling out my phone. “Hello?”
“Hey, I’m on my way home from Cleo’s. Do you still want me to drop around?” It was Josh.
I sighed and tried not to laugh as Ash played with my hair. “I’m actually at yours so sure, I guess so.”
“Did you speak to Jesse?” He wondered. I could hear music playing in the back ground and I guessed he was driving.
“Yes actually I did.” I replied.
“And what did he say?” Josh asked me curiously.
I rolled my eyes, remembering our very short conversation. “Not much really, just the usual. This is going to be harder than I thought.”
“I think we’re just going to have to do it. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen any other way.” Josh replied. I heard him sigh hopelessly.
“Perhaps we need an intervention.” I joked.
Josh laughed. “Maybe, okay I’ll see you soon Zarah.”
“Sure, bye Josh.” Then I hung up the phone and kissed Ash’s cheek quickly.
He grinned and sat cross-legged on the bed in front of me. “What was that for?”
“Aren’t I allowed to kiss my awesome boyfriend whenever I feel like it?” I replied with a smile that barely matched his. Ash’s smile was amazing. He didn’t smile often when he was around anyone other than me but when he did it really lit up the room, it really meant something. It wasn’t in any way fake.
He leant forward and pressed his lips against mine. I kissed him back immediately and then too soon he pulled away. I shook my head and grabbed his chin and pulled it towards mine. He put his arms around my waist and I buried mine in his hair. His hands explored my back and all the way down to my hips, pulling me closer to him.
I moved one of my hands and put it around his neck and pulled him closer to me. His lips moved to my neck and I hugged him closer to my body. He was warm. He smelt like he always did, amazing and when his lips touched my skin they left little tingles. I had goose bumps on my arms but in a good way. I smiled as he brought his lips back to mine and once again my hands brushed over his naked chest. He let me go to smile at me and stare into my arms and I grinned back then I lay back on the bed and he towered over me and brought his lips back to mine.
There was a knock on the door and I felt Ash stiffen but he didn’t stop kissing me. I should’ve pushed him off but I couldn’t seem to find the strength.
