Chapter 19
When I woke up in the morning I couldn’t remember what had happened the night before. I sat up quickly and looked around my room. On my wall my old pooh bear clocked ticked a beat, I rubbed my eyes and tried to make out the time.
It was quarter to ten.
I quickly climbed out of bed immediately regretting it when I almost fell back down in dizziness. I got up, slower this time and almost sprinted out of my bedroom and down the stairs where I found mum making some coffee.
I frowned at her. “Why didn’t you wake me? Aren’t you pissed that I’m late for school?”
She shook her head and walked over to me. “I’ve called the doctor and he’s coming over later. I tried to wake you and you wouldn’t get up. You didn’t even groan like usual. I got worried, you never do that.”
I sighed and squeezed my eyes shut hating the light that shined into them. “Mum I got home late last night of course I’m going to be half dead in the morning.”
She sighed. “I know you got home late last night. By the way it wasn’t that late.”
I rolled my eyes and started to turn away. “Stop yelling at me, I don’t even remember how I got home.”
She laughed softly and pointed upstairs. “I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough. Now go get ready for school.”
“Do you think it’ll be suspicious if I wear my sunglasses to school?” I muttered as I walked up the stairs and into my bedroom.
I changed into some clothes quickly. I pulled on my bigger holed fishnet stockings and a white dress. I went into my wardrobe and grabbed a black see through shrug before walking over to my dresser and picking out some jewellery. Then I pulled my hair back into a quick pony tail.
Then I ran back down the stairs and almost fell over seeing mum laughing with Josh.
I smiled. “What are you doing here Josh?”
He shrugged. “I figured I could give you a lift to school considering I’m going there myself. I’ve decided that in my two weeks here I’m going to do some work experience with the music teachers.”
I laughed and grabbed a water bottle off the bench, walking around to the sink to fill it. “That’s awesome, now we’ll have some time to plan their party.”
He nodded and grinned then took one whiff of the air around me. “I think we should think about making it a restricted alcohol event, don’t you?”
I rolled my eyes but nodded. “I think that’s a great idea Josh.”
“I think you should go upstairs and spray some deodorant around.” He suggested. “The teachers probably won’t like the smell that’s following you around.”
I nodded and did as he said without thinking and before I knew it we were in the car, half way to school already. He turned to me and grinned leaning into the back of his car and pulling out a notepad, handing it to me.
“What’s this?” I wondered curiously.
“A notepad on which we are going to brainstorm idea for the party, duh.” He rolled his eyes.
I laughed and looked down at it grabbing the pen from the dashboard of the car. “Well first we need a theme, any suggestions?”
“Well around here beach parties have been done to death.” Josh informed me. “It’s the easy way out and it’s fun I guess.”
I shrugged. “I don’t want something average; we’re going to make it different right?”
He nodded enthusiastically. “That’s what I was aiming at yeah.”
