Chapter 17
Josh walked me to my door. I smiled at him and he laughed pushing back his blonde hair with one of his strong and tanned hands.
I shook my head. “This is kind of awkward don’t you think?”
He nodded in agreement then pulled me in for a hug. “I’m going to have two barbeques tomorrow. You’re welcome to come to one if you like.”
“Why two?” I asked with a little laugh.
He shrugged. “My twin brothers hate each other. I’m going to have one for lunch and one for dinner. I think Jesse and his friends are coming for lunch.”
I groaned. “Tough decision, awkward because of Caden but also awkward because of Ash.”
He nodded clearly understanding. “Well you can come to both if you’d like. I just don’t want you to feel like I’m forcing you to come.”
I shook my head and opened my door. “No, never. I’ll be there. Is there anything you want me to bring? Is it okay if Cleo comes?” I rolled my eyes. “She still has a crush on Jesse.”
He laughed and nodded. “Of course, I love little Cleo. She was adorably cute when she was younger.”
“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Then we waved and I shut the door behind me.
I jogged up the stairs into my bedroom and got changed into my pyjamas. I crossed my room over to my window that looked straight across into the Webb’s backyard. I smiled when I saw Ash and Liam jump up and bump each other on the chest.
I grabbed my binoculars from my desk and focussed my view down on them then jumped when I realised that Ash and Liam had a pair themselves. They were both staring straight at me while I stared at them.
I waved then closed my curtains tight and hopped into bed.

I didn’t dream of Ash while I slept and I was glad. I didn’t want any reason to like him again and I was pretty sure that if I had dreamt about it would have been exactly that, dreams. Not nightmares.
When I awoke in the morning I sat up in my bed and smiled. I swung my legs out of the bed and skipped downstairs and into the kitchen. I grabbed a bowl and the carton of milk along with my favourite cereal, fruit loops. I poured some of each into the bowl and started shovelling them in with a spoon.
“Cute tweety bird pjs.” A familiar voice spoke from behind. I knew there was a smirk on his face before I turned around.
I rolled my eyes. “What are you doing here Ashton?”
“I’m here to invite you to a barbeque tonight. It’s going to be down at the beach, you in?” He explained still smiling at my very childish pyjamas.
I nodded. “And will Josh be there?”
Ash laughed as if I were stupid. “Josh leaves today; my parents will be there though.”
I nodded and tried to hide my smile at knowing that Josh was still here and no one else. “I don’t know, I’ll have to think about it. I was invited to the lunchtime session too.”
“The night is more fun.” Ash said waving me off.
I shrugged. “I’ll think about it. Now get out of my house, I have to go yell at mum for letting an arse hole inside my house.”
Ash laughed. “Why are you in here then?”
I rolled my eyes at his comment. “I’m not the arse here Ashton.”
