Chapter 24
“Okay so let me know again how this works?” Jesse asked staring intently at a piece of music.
I sighed and started to explain again for possibly the fifth time. “That one is worth one count, that one two the next three and the one after four. The ones that are joined together are quick.”
He nodded slowly. “Okay I think I sort of get it, a little bit.”
I rolled my eyes. “I really can’t believe Josh never taught you this, it’s basic.”
“Well I’m so sorry he only taught me guitar, I didn’t need to learn any of this bullshit for that.” He shot back sounding a little frustrated.
I shook my head and slammed my fist against the table. “Jesse, seriously you need to concentrate some more. If you want to get this then you need to concentrate.”
“I’m trying; it’s a little hard when you’re yelling in my ears! Where’s Cleo, you’re always nicer when she’s around.” He told me with a frown.
I grunted and then tried not to yell. “Well then isn’t it a pity? Looks like I’m going to be a bitch the rest of my life.”
“What’s that supposed to mean Zarah?” He demanded.
I shrugged. “You said I’m nicer when Cleo’s around. Cleo’s not around anymore.”
“Why not, what happened?” He asked me still frowning.
I shook my head. “It’s not important, you don’t need to know.”
“Well I want to know.” He told me stubbornly.
“Well I’m not going to tell you, I’m not going to go blurting out her secrets just because we had a fight. Now listen to me and concentrate on the work otherwise I’ll leave and go to find Ash. I haven’t seen him since this morning, you’re quite lucky I’m here.” I told him grumpily.
Jesse threw his pen onto the table. “Go and see him then! It wouldn’t be the first time you chose him over me would it?”
I rolled my eyes and turned away from him. “Oh grow up Jesse, I haven’t chosen anyone. Ash is my boyfriend, you’re my friend. I’m so sorry if I’m a little more eager to see him.”
Jesse laughed without humour. “Oh I’m just a friend now am I? Yesterday I was one of your best friends.”
“You know what; right now you’re proving to not even be that. If you’re not going to concentrate then I’m going to find the guys.” I told him.
He stood up and chucked the piece of paper at me. “You know what, just go Zarah.”
So I did.
*Ashton*
I was sitting inside the music rooms with a notepad and my guitar when she found me. She winked and skipped over to see what I was doing. I felt a little confused when I realised she was really here to see me.
“What are you doing here?” I groaned slightly not looking her way. “Shouldn’t you be with Jesse or something?”
When she settled down beside me and shook her head. “Why would I be with him?”
I shrugged and scribbled something down in my notepad. “You’re with him quite a lot.”
“Well I’m not now; I thought we could hang out for a bit.” She grinned wickedly. “You know chill.”
I shrugged and strummed a few chords on my guitar.
She didn’t like this. She snatched the notebook from my hands and tossed it behind her back. I hugged my guitar closer to my chest but she still pulled that away too. I sighed and sat back watching her stretch a little before settling down beside me.
