Chapter 21
Ash and the rest of the boys stayed for dinner that night. Mum ended up having to run into work so she gave me fifty dollars and told me to order some pizzas. Liam offered to drive up and get them so the rest of us sat down and got busy with some lyrics.
We didn’t get far.
Drew found my secret stash of rock cds and started listening to them one by one. Soon enough we had forgotten all about the work and we singing and dancing around my living room like complete fools.
When Liam got home he looked sort of upset about seeming to have missed out on all of the fun. He dumped the pizzas onto the table and walked into the room we were in like a teacher ready to yell at a class of misbehaving students. He put his hands on his hips and stared down the rest of us, who were giggling on the couch.
“What is this? I leave the house for twenty minutes and come back to find that you’ve had a party?” He sniffed as if he were fake crying. “Without me?”
Aaron stood up and shrugged. “Whatever man, you’re the life of the party. Really, it doesn’t start until right now.”
I tried not to laugh. “That’s exactly right Aaron; we couldn’t possibly have a party without you Liam.”
Everyone laughed and got up to start eating the food. I poured drinks for everyone and Liam turned up the music louder. I knew from then on that I really was accepted in the band.
They didn’t stay long. By the time nine o clocks came around half of them were already gone. It was just Liam, Ash and I. Ash and I were sitting side by side on the couch, me resting my head on his shoulder and Liam was lying down the other way with his feet in my lap.
Liam sighed loudly. “So why exactly did we need to have this meeting if we weren’t going to do any work?”
I laughed. “Are you complaining?”
“No way, tonight was awesome. I just don’t get why we needed it.” He said closing his eyes then opening them again.
I shrugged and turned to Ash. He smiled at me and looked over at Liam. “I don’t know, I just thought that you guys should know that Zarah and I are together.”
Liam shook his head and chuckled. “Are you serious? Dude everyone already knew it was going to happen. We all put bets on to see how long it would take for one of you to admit you were crazy about each other.” He laughed again. “By the way, who made the first move?”
I looked to Ash. “It was sort of neutral. He would argue that it was me but I had no idea what I was saying when I said it so…”
Liam groaned and rolled his eyes. “Dammit, one of you make a decision. Who made the first move?”
“I guess it was me.” Ash said seriously. “I did it the first time so we can leave it at that.”
Liam gaped at us. “What do you mean the first time dudes!?”
Ash and I laughed.
“Okay so that’s your final answer?” Liam asked biting his lip looking a little unsure.
We nodded.
Liam laughed proudly and fist pumped the air happily. “Yes! Drew and I won the bet!”
I rolled my eyes and pushed his legs off my lap. “You guys should probably get ready to leave. My mum will be home soon and I’m pretty sure she won’t like it if I’m alone with two boys.”
Ash leant forward to look into my eyes. We were so close our faces touched. “Since when do you care what your mum thinks? That was the only reason I liked you. I don’t think we can go on now that I know the truth.”
