Chapter 16

The first one to meet me in the crowd was Josh. He wasn’t smiling. “Why didn’t you tell me you and Ashton hooked up? I’ve been waiting for you to go off with him and you didn’t tell me.”

I groaned and tried to turn away but he grabbed my arm.

“I didn’t think it was any of your business for starters and I told you I didn’t want any drama.” I rolled my eyes. “I don’t understand why you care anyway.”

“Well Ashton doesn’t like many people, I’m sure you’ve noticed.” He started. “Especially not girls, but you come along and I’ve seen him smile at least once a day.”

It made me want to break out into the biggest grin ever but I held it back. “Whatever please let me get past now? I’ll catch you later though yeah?”

He nodded. “Okay, I’ll try not to bring him up again.”

I smiled. “Awesome.”

I found Caden in the same place I’d left him with Ant and Jesse. I grinned at him and he frowned back. I ignored him and grabbed his hand; I figured that would show Ash too.

He pulled it free. “You’re with him; I don’t want to be with you while you’re with him.”

I rolled my eyes and turned to the others. “What is he talking about?”

Jesse didn’t look happy either. “What was that song about Zarah? You and Ashton looked pretty cost tonight.”

Ant wouldn’t even look at me.

I tried to laugh it off. “What are you guys talking about? I’d pick you guys over Ash any day.” But I couldn’t help but mess with my hair, thanks to Ash for pointing it out.

“Are you serious?” Jesse demanded.

I nodded. “Very serious Jess, can we please just get past everything I’m over drama and I’m sick of trying. Caden isn’t making anything easier by accusing me of being with Ash, when by the way, I am not.”

“Yeah but have you ever been?” Caden demanded.

I laughed. “Are you seriously going to make me answer that?”

Caden’s expression didn’t change. “Answer the question.”

“You know what, if you really don’t trust me that much then what are we doing her Caden? You’re a lousy boyfriend and if I’m going to be honest I really don’t know if I want you to be anymore. But I promised myself and Jesse that I’d try so…” I shook my head and sighed. “My point is I’m not answering your stupid question. You either trust me or you don’t. I suggest you work out which one it is.”

Then I turned and stormed off.

I heard Cleo’s laugh from the side. I turned to see her staring at me.

I grinned and shook my head. “It’s really not that funny.”

“Oh but it is, you’re a very talented person. Actress, musician, photographer is there anything else?” She shook her head and nodded to the group of boys. “Look at them.”

I giggled. “They all look very guilty.”

“Anyway, tell me why you can’t just tell them that Ash kissed you. I mean that’s all that happened it’s pretty innocent.” She asked resting her hands on her hips.
