Chapter 34
So, over the past few days, I've made a multitude of mistakes.
I caused an uproar in the Districts.
I think I started a rebellion.
Seriously, I think I have. Onyx flicked on her T.V. for a few minutes before we left her apartment, the only news items were reports of uprisings and chaos within the Districts. Like, in District R right now, they're having a book burning of all of the Husband Games related fanfiction.
Stuff is getting intense right now. R never has a book burning, I personally thought they should've burt all that Justin Beiber fanfiction years ago, but hey...they might be getting rid of some of it now!
Anyway, where was I...
My actions have managed to get all of the other Tributes and 5SOS trapped in a Maze.
And Onyx and I accidentally LEFT DALE IN PRISON.
I officially suck.
Someone should just brand me "Worst Person Of The Year".
Where is that award? I'd totally win it.
"You ready to do this?" Onyx asks, as we pull up to the back of looming marble building.
I nod, and the two of us get off her motorcycle, keeping our helmets on as she holds a small card up to a scanner on the door next to us.
We slip inside a hallway and Onyx pushes a button on the wall to open a door.
The room we stride into is empty, like a small supply closet, Onyx locks the door and motions for the two of us to take off our helmets.
"Finally." She sighs, "I hate wearing my helmet."
I nod in agreement, and watch as my candy-floss hair cascades over my shoulders, I'm still really enjoying the colour.
Onyx turns to look at me, her gaze piercing, serious. "Here's the plan. Listen up."
I remain silent and lean against one of the walls.
"I never really mentioned this before, but I actually work for the Capitol. My father did too, but...Well, it didn't end well. Honestly, I don't like my job, but I've got to do it. I'm hoping you're going to be the girl that helps me to get out of it. But for now, we can use it to our advantage."
I raise my eyebrows, "What job do you do?"
It takes a few seconds for her to reply.
"I'm a gamemaker."
WHAT?!
"Seriously?" I gasp, "Is this all part of a dirty trick?!"
She holds her hands up in defence and shakes her head, "No, no, no, Jayson. Calm down, it's not like that!"
"Then what is it like?! You've got my friends trapped in a maze! And you don't even care!!!"
"I'm just part of the technical team, I keep everything running, put in a few challenges, things like that. I never wanted the games to take this turn, but honestly, it's probably for the better, because if you manage to stop them, everyone will be on your side, no one likes the way the games are going anymore."
