New chapter! Woo
Kinda just wanted to update earlier cause I have some EXCITING NEWS (what's new though, I usually do :P)
150 votes for the next chapter!
And also, there's only a few chapters to go (like, less than TEN. probably even less that that...I'm not sure.)
OK, enjoy.
Also...Have you seen this random novel called 'Thicket' pop up in My Works? Yeah...That might have something to do with the exciting news.

Chapter 39.
I walk down the streets of the Capitol with purpose.
In my guard uniform, I look like I'm part of the team that keeps this country in check. Like the reason there's a hastiness to my steps is because something terrible happened in the arena and I need to get to Frost's as soon as possible to try and contain the reaction from what has just occurred.
But the reason behind my pace has nothing to do with that. I'm on a rescue mission, I'm going to get Dale the hell out of those Capitol holding cells before someone can do something terrible to him.
To my right, another person keeps up with my pace, Luke Hemmings also walks with a hidden speed, the two of us know we have very limited time.
Neither of us speak, after Luke's outburst at me back at Onyx's apartment, there's nothing to say.
I don't think about that either, I just let Luke lead the way, like he asked me to.
I'm going to put my trust in him right now, because I need to give him a chance, and I also don't know if I can think particularly straight today.
The games were supposed to be fun. When all of this started, I took my sisters place for a happy go lucky game show. If things went well, I'd end up married to the guy walking beside me, and if things didn't go well, I'd be sent back home with a bit of cash and some new found fame.
It wasn't that hard.
But look at the mess I made for myself.
Now, if I succeed, I might be able to stop the games forever...But if I fail. Well, I don't get to go home with fame and cash. I'll probably get delivered back to District R in a body bag...And that would be if Frost was in a good mood.
Also, there's no guaranteed marriage for me whichever way it goes, I've simply left a multitude of broken hearts from everything I've said and done recently...Including my own.
I've never been very good at romance.
"We're almost there." Luke murmurs to me, avoiding eye contact as the two of us near the Capitol security centre.
"Wait, are we seriously going in through the front doors?" I ask, "We're going to get killed!"
He shakes his head slowly and his hand reaches out to steady mine.
"Just trust me, OK?" He mutters. "That's all I ask."
I gulp, and his hand lets go of mine.
Despite his closeness, I suddenly feel very alone.
The two of us continue our steady walk up to the front doors of the towering security centre, it's quite close to the middle of the city, and there seems to be a lot of activity occurring outside of it.
