Dakota's POV:

I was walking home to get ready for my dinner with Thorin. It was about 7 in the evening. I was kinda nervous which I found weird considering I have known him so long. I opened the door of my house. "Hi mom! I'm home!" my mother walked toward me with a piece of fabric in her hands. "Is that another dress for Dís? I didn't know she wanted another one?" I asked. "This dress isn't for Dís, my dear. It's for you!" I was very surprised. I didn't ask her for a dress I never did really! She saw my puzzled look. "It's for your dinner tonight! You didn't think I'd let you wear the same dress as always. No, not on a night like this one." She gave me the dress and I looked at it in awe. It was a long red dress. "Mother it's beautiful! Thank you!" I gave her a hug. "What would you like to eat?" I asked her. "I already ate! A servant came to bring me some food so you wouldn't have to do it! Dís knew you would make dinner for me no matter what. She was afraid you would be late." I chuckled. She knows me too well. I walked to my room to get ready.

**********

When I was done I stood in front of my mirror I looked at myself. The dress fitted me perfectly (see picture). I picked up a circlet and earrings Thorin once gave me for one of my birthdays. He would probably like it if I wore them. I walked out of my room. I had my boots on just because I had to walk to the castle. I picked up my heels and put a cloak around me. I heard a knock. I opened the door and in front of me stood Fili accompanied by his brother Kili. "We came to make sure your way to the castle goes...smooth." Fili said. "What are you wearing?" Kili asked curiously. I chuckled. I opened my cloak and revealed my dress. Fili and Kili looked at me in awe. My mother wanted to see me to and stood next to the boys. "Oh sweetie! You look absolutely gorgeous!" I smiled at her. I put the cloak back on. "Can we go? Otherwise I'll still be late." I said jokingly. The boys let me pass. They walked me all the way to the castle. I saw them looking at me all the time. "Is something wrong guys?" "No nothing is wrong, why?" Fili asked. "Because you guys are looking at me all the time." "You just...you just look so beautiful." Kili admitted. Fili nodded in agreement. I was silent for the rest of the walk. At the door of the dining room they left me. I quickly changed my shoes.

The two guards at the door opened it and at the end of the room sat Thorin. I walked inside and Thorin stood up. I bowed for him and he came over to me. I smiled at him. He gave me a friendly hug and I returned it. "You look beautiful!" he said making me blush. "Come, sit! The food will be brought to us any minute." He sat down at the head of the table and I sat down at the other side. "Did you have a pleasant nap, My Lord?" I asked him. He gave me a puzzled look. I laughed. "I saw you sitting against the big oak!" I explained. He started laughing. "I had a very pleasant nap, thank you." "I thought so, you looked very peaceful." I said making him laugh again.

The food was brought in and we started eating. "About this quest." I began. "Yes, what about it?" Thorin asked. "Well, I wanted to know what kind of quest it was. I mean if I am to accompany you then it might be a good idea for me to know what I need to do and what the purpose is of this quest." I said hoping he would answer me. He remained silent for a moment. I could tell he was thinking.

"Do you want to go home Dakota?" he asked me finally. "Home? You mean, not finishing this dinner and just going to bed?" I asked disappointed. I thought that I offended him and that he wanted me to go to my house. "No, I mean home. Do you want to go back to Erebor?" I was very surprised. I never really considered going home. "Yes, I mean, I guess I want to. I haven't really considered it, but... yes, I would love to go home. See the mountain with the beauty of Mirkwood and Esgaroth on the background. Taking a stroll through the market of Dal. Now that you say this... I realise that all I want is to go home." I was trying to hold back some tears.
