Dakota's POV:

The next morning I woke up by a hand on my shoulder. I met Thorin's eyes. "Good morning, come one we're leaving." He said and I got up. I grabbed my stuff and the dwarves had all kinds of weapons and armor, which they got from the Master. We went outside and people were cheering for us. "You do know we're one short. Where's Bofur?" Bilbo asked. "If he's not here we leave him behind." Thorin replied. "We'll have to. If we're to find the door before nightfall, we can risk no more delays." Balin said. "I thought we were supposed to be a company." I said softly. Thorin slightly turned around but said nothing and kept walking. We reached the boat and the dwarves started loading it with everything we needed. Everyone jumped on the boat but Thorin stopped Kili. "Not you. We must travel at speed. You will slow us down." Thorin said to him. Fili and I were listening very closely. "What are you talking about? I'm coming with you." Kili said. "Not now." Thorin replied. Kili's face had a sad expression and Thorin saw it. "I'm going to be there when that door is opened. When we first look upon the halls of our fathers, Thorin." "Kili, stay here, rest. Join us when you're healed." Thorin said placing his hand on the back of Kili's head. Kili looked like he wanted to cry and when Thorin turned around to step into the boat I saw he didn't like to let his nephew behind. "I'll stay with the lad. My duty lies with the wounded." Oin said getting out of the boat and walking to Kili.

Fili walked to Thorin. "Uncle, we grew up on tales of the mountain. Tales you told us. You cannot take that away from him! I will carry him if I must!" "Fili, one day you will be king and you will understand. I cannot risk the fate of this quest for the sake of one dwarf. Not even my own kin." Thorin explained. Fili looked at his brother and stepped off the boat. Thorin stopped him. "Fili, don't be a fool. You belong with the company." Thorin said. "I belong with my brother." Fili replied and walked towards his brother. I also stepped off the boat and Thorin immediately sighed. "Dakota, please come with me." He begged. "Thorin, I want to stay with Kili and Fili. I want to help Oin. That has always been the purpose of me going on this quest. Helping the others. When Kili is healed we'll come to the mountain. Don't worry, we'll be fine." I said. I kissed him and when I pulled away Thorin pulled me into a hug. "I'll miss you." Thorin whispered in my ear. "I'll miss you too." I replied and I joined Fili, Kili and Oin.

"Dakota, what are you doing here?" Fili asked confused. "I'm here to help Oin." I said and they all nodded. A fanfare started playing and the Master appeared. "Go now with our goodwill and good whishes. And may your return bring good fortune for all!" The Master said and the dwarves left. Out of the crowd Bofur appeared. "Bofur!" I shouted and he looked at us. He came towards us happy he wasn't alone. "So you missed the boat as well?" He asked. We didn't get the time to reply because Kili almost fell forwards. "Kili? Kili!" Fili said worriedly. "We have to treat him somewhere!" Oin stated. "Where?" I asked. "Well the Master's house of course." Bofur answered and so we went to the Master's house.

We saw the Master walk up the stairs to his house. "Please wait! Please, we need your help. My brother is sick!" Fili said quickly. "Sick? Is it infectious? Get back!" The Master exclaimed disgusted holding a handkerchief against his face. "Please we need medicine!" Oin begged. "Do I look like an apothecary? Haven't we given you enough? The Master is a busy man. He hasn't got time to worry about sick dwarves now be gone!" Alfrid said and they turned around. "What kind of Master do you think you are?" I shouted and Alfrid and the Master turned back around offended. "Excuse me?" The Master asked narrowing his eyes at me. "A respectful and caring Master should help the sick not turn them away!" I shouted angrily. "Good thing I'm neither of those. I am respected and I am cared for but I don't give others any of those things. Now go before I put you under lock and key." The Master said and they entered the house. The guards pushed us away. "Where to now?" Bofur asked. "I may know someone but I'm not sure if he's willing to help." I replied and I led them the way.
