Thorin's POV:
When Dakota walked away I wanted to follow her but Dwalin stopped me. "Give the lass some space." I nodded and we walked to the fire where Bofur was cooking. I waited for him to finish the food and then I started eating hungrily. I wasn't that worried about Dakota because I knew for sure she was with Fili and Kili and therefore she was safe. Ever since she told me that Balin said something to her I wanted to know what it was. I went over to Balin. "Balin can I ask you something?" he nodded. "What did you say to Dakota at Bag End?" Balin narrowed his eyes. "Nothing of real importance." He said calmly. "Balin please, I can see it's bothering her and I want her to be happy." Balin lifted his head. "Do you love her, Thorin?" I was shocked by his question. I knew the answer but I wasn't sure whether to tell him or not. "I...uhh... yes. I love her." Balin shook his head lightly. "Thorin you can't... I like Dakota. She's a very good lass and no doubt would be a great wife but you need a princess." "Why? She could learn. She's a very fast learner. Balin please." I tried. "Thorin, your father and grandfather have given me the task to tell you and Dakota that you can't be together." I was a little confused. "Did they really?" I asked in disbelief. Balin nodded his head but I saw he felt sorry for me. "They are no longer on this world and I am king now. I can do as I see fit and I want Dakota." Balin looked me in the eyes for a long time. "Lad, be good to her." he said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I could hear doubt in his voice but what was he going to say to argue when he pretty much agrees with me. I smiled at him.

It was late in the evening and Bilbo who had been given the task to bring food to Fili, Kili and Dakota hadn't returned yet. I wanted to go to them and see what was going on when Fili and Kili ran towards us. "What's wrong?" I asked quickly. "Mountain trolls!" Fili said. "Where are Bilbo and Dakota?" the boys looked at each other but didn't answer. "Well?" I exclaimed impatiently. "The trolls picked four of our ponies and Bilbo is doing his burglar job." Kili explained. "And Dakota?" I asked worriedly. "Well uhm... we first thought she was here but we saw the camp of the trolls and we saw her bound against a wooden pillar." Fili said carefully. "Take up your arms!" I commanded and everyone picked up their weapons and we ran towards the camp.
Dakota's POV:
I opened my eyes. I had a severe headache. My vision was extremely blurry. I tried to move but I was bound to a pillar. I looked behind me and saw four of our ponies in a little fenced area. I scanned the area and saw a campfire with three big trolls. Great... that's really all I needed. Three trolls... being sold as slave. For Mahals sake.
I heard a sound coming from my left. It was Bilbo. He smiled at me and I smiled back. I wanted to speak but he signed for me to be quiet. I kept silent and then I blacked out again.

I woke up when I heard people shouting. The dwarves were fighting the trolls but it was going too fast for me to keep up with what was happening. Bilbo picked up a big knife from one of the trolls and freed the ponies and after that he freed me. I stood up but I was wobbling around a bit. Thorin glanced at me for a second. A troll was charging towards him. I pointed at it but Thorin just gave me a confused look. I grabbed my bow and shot the troll in his knee causing him to stop walking. Thorin looked at me gratefully. I almost fell over but I grabbed the pillar that I had been bound to moments ago. Two trolls somehow caught Bilbo and threatened to rip his arms and legs of if we didn't surrender.
We surrendered and were tied up in sacks. Some of us were bound on a spit that was turning around above a fire. My head lied on Thorin's stomach. "Kota you okay?" he asked me in a whisper. I nodded softly because my head was still hurting. "A little dizzy, that's all." I said my voice hoarse.
