Dakota's POV:

After the small encounter with the orcs we moved quickly but carefully. We found out that the wargs had picked up our trail and that they were searching for us. I tried to stay away from Thorin as far as I could. I could see in his eyes that he really wants to punch me. The reason is a very small and probably a stupid one but you know Thorin. He has a quick temper and is occasionally quite moody.

<Flash back: Dakota, three days ago>

The encounter with the orcs was one day ago and we had been walking for about four hours straight. I had already asked Thorin if I needed to help him with his wounds but he declined and let it uncared for. I saw the sour look on his face and it wasn't from walking or being hungry. "Thorin are you sure you don't want me to take a look at your wounds?" I asked while stopping him. He nodded. "Don't worry about it, it's fine." He said rubbing my arm. I pushed it away and looked at him seriously. "Thorin! I don't have time for the heartless leader! I don't want you to be in pain when I can help you!" I exclaimed. A pain crossed his eyes but his stare grew cold. "You think I am heartless?" he asked very calmly. "No! I-I didn't mean it like that. I don't think you are heartless but sometimes you act like it or you act like you're totally fine when I know you are not!" "Kota! Stop it! I don't need any help! I can care for myself! Unlike you apparently..." The last part he said in a whisper but I could still slightly hear it. "What? Well, at least I am not as cold hearted as you! Why are you such a prick sometimes! You really don't care about anyone else but yourself, do you?"

Thorin glared at me and scoffed. "Half elf!" He turned around and rejoined the company and led them on. It took a minute before I was able to move again. Bilbo came over to me and took my hand. "Come on, I'll stay with you." He smiled at me reassuringly and pulled me along.

Later that day,

It was dark and Bombur and Bofur were making dinner for us all. Bilbo gave me a plate with food and sat next to me. "Has Thorin said anything to you yet?" I shook my head. "He hasn't. Not that I thought he would, I did call him cold hearted." Bilbo chuckled. "Well, you could've done worse so I consider him lucky." He said laughing. He managed to get a smile from me. Bilbo placed his hand on my shoulder. "Dakota don't worry. He loves you more than anything in this world. Soon enough he will realize he can't live without you and apologize."

"Maybe I should apologize to him instead." "No, you shouldn't! He shouldn't be so stubborn and just allow you to help him. He could've gotten in trouble and then you would've been a widow!" he exclaimed. "We're not married Bilbo. I won't be a widow when Thorin dies." I said but Bilbo smiled at me. "Not yet... you're not married yet." I chuckled. "You think we will?" Bilbo nodded heavily. "Of course you will! You two are made for each other!" He said happily. I lowered my head and looked at the ground.

<End of flash back>

After this Thorin and I didn't talk to each other so I just spend my time with Bilbo. Bilbo and I were sitting behind a big rock. Bilbo peeked over the rock and quickly sat back. "Did they see you?" I asked in a whisper. He shook his head. "No, I don't think Azog saw me." He said with a sigh. Bilbo and I were observing the orcs that were following us so they wouldn't come to close and we could flee in time. I heard a noise and looked around me. I saw a huge black bear. I gasped and Bilbo placed his hand over my mouth. "What?" he asked worried. I pointed at the bear and his face dropped. "Ohh." He managed to say. I grabbed his hand and quietly pulled him away.

When out of sight we ran down the pass that led to the others who were waiting for us. We reached the others. "How close is the pack?" Thorin asked. "Too close. A couple of leagues no more but that is not the worst of it." I said. "Have the wargs caught up our scent?" Dwalin immediately asked. "Not yet but they will do. We have another problem." Bilbo said but like me was cut short. "Did they see you?" Gandalf asked. Bilbo looked at Gandalf. Gandalf took that as a wrong sign. "They saw you." He said. Bilbo shook his head. "No, that's not it." Bilbo said to the wizard and Gandalf's expression relaxed.
