Dakota's POV:

Everyone was packing their stuff and I sat on a chair waiting for them. I had slept for a couple of hours but I was still tired. Dawn was only an hour away and we had to move quickly if we wanted to leave unnoticed.

When everyone was done we carefully walked outside. Before we even walked out of the door someone called to us.

"Where are we going?" a firm voice said. It didn't take me long to figure out who it was.

"Are you going to betray us, dad?" I asked as I turned around. He had a stupid smirk on his. Lindir stood next to him and was smiling adorably.

"I'm not sure if we're allowed to let you leave." My father said still smirking. "Lord Elrond instructed us to make sure you stayed here." Lindir said. I walked up to them. "If you two don't allow us to leave, I'll beat you up... again." I said smirking back at my father. His face dropped but then a smile formed on his face. "No you won't." he said while waving a small paper in front of my face. "You said you loved me." he said grinning. I chuckled and gave him a playful punch.

"Come on, go. Get out, before anyone else sees you." He quickly said and he gave me a genuine smile.

"Thank you." I quickly kissed Lindir's and my fathers cheek and walked back to the company. "C'mon! We can go!" I exclaimed and I sort of took the lead. I turned back around and I could see my father and Thorin shaking their head in amusement.

We left Rivendell and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to see it again. I walked at the end of the line with Bilbo. We both stopped and took one last glance at Rivendell. I know that Bilbo absolutely loves this place and he would rather stay here but he signed a contract. "Master Baggins! Dakota! I suggest you two keep up!" Thorin said from the beginning of the line. We both sighed and started walking.

We walked an entire day and the sun was already setting. "Thorin, can't we take a break?" I complained. Thorin sighed. "No, we can't. We'll stop when it's dark." He said pushing my on. I groaned but obeyed.

**********

We were walking on a very small path in the Misty Mountains. It was storming and my clothes were soaked to my flesh. I was freezing and my teeth chattering. Even my thick cloak didn't help a single bit. Because of the howling wind I could barely hear anything and if Kili would ask if I was okay I would barely understand a single word.

The thunder and lightening weren't making it easier.

"Steady! Hold on!" Thorin shouted at all of us. Bilbo almost slipped of the edge but Dwalin could grab him just in time. "We need to find shelter!" Thorin shouted. "Look out!" Dwalin yelled.

Out of nowhere a big rock crashed into the wall making the ground shake. I held on to Kili who was pressing me against the wall of the mountain.

"This is no thunderstorm!" Balin exclaimed. "It's a thunder battle! Look!" he shouted pointing into the darkness of the night.

I could make out a huge figure. I didn't exactly know what it was but didn't really want to know. It was made of stone and it moved very slowly. It broke a piece of rock from the mountain on his side.

"Bless me! The legends are true! Giants! Stone giant!" Bofur exclaimed. The giant threw the piece of rock and it passed us. We all followed the rock with our eyes and it smashed into another giant and it lost its balance and fell backwards. "Take cover, you fools!" Thorin shouted at some of the dwarves.

The ground started shaking madly and I grabbed onto Kili once more. I saw fear in his eyes and that made me even more scared. The ground started splitting in between Fili and me, who was behind me. "What happening?" I exclaimed. "Take my hands!" Fili shouted at us. I was just fast enough but for Kili the gap had become too big. We looked up and it turned out we were standing on one of the legs of a sleeping giant. Well, he wasn't sleeping anymore. He stood up but was knocked down by another giant. The other dwarves who were on the other leg managed to get back onto the mountain.
