Chapter 28: A lie

Dakota's POV:

We entered the mountain and I felt my knees getting weaker. Thorin noticed that I was walking less well and he stopped me. "I'll carry you." He said. Before I could protest Thorin picked me up from the ground and carried me bridal style. "Shall I show you our new room?" Thorin asked and I nodded.

At the door Thorin put me back on the ground. "Close your eyes." Thorin said and I did as he told me. I heard the door open and Thorin placed his hands at my shoulders. "I'll guide you." Thorin whispered in my ear and he slowly pushed me inside the room. Thorin released me. "You can open your eyes." Thorin said and I opened my eyes. I stood in the middle of a big room. The bed was huge and so was the closet. "Our bathroom is this way." Thorin said leading me the way. He opened the door to the bathroom. It was at least ten times as big as my old bathroom in the Blue Mountains. It had a big bath and I was already excited to get in and just relax. "Do you like it?" Thorin asked and I looked at him. "Like it? I love it!" I exclaimed and I gave him a hug.

"Come on, maybe you should rest a bit." Thorin said pulling away. "No, I want to get this problem with Nora fixed." I said and Thorin sighed deeply. "Kota, what are you going to do? We first have to find the man she was talking about. Bard would report back when he found someone." Thorin argued. "Thorin, I can't sit around! We don't even know if this man is still in Dale! Maybe he's leaving for Gondor as we speak!" "You don't know that." Thorin replied. I sighed deeply and let my head hang. "Kota, sleep." Thorin said quietly cupping my cheeks. I looked up at Thorin. "Okay. Wake me up when there is news." I said and Thorin nodded. "Of course. Sleep well." He said and quickly kissed me.

I changed into a nightdress and climbed into bed. After a bit of tossing and turning I finally fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning with the sunrays shining on my face. I looked next to me and Thorin was lying on his stomach with his arm around me. He was still asleep. I was staring at Thorin when his eyes fluttered open. When his eyes met mine he smiled at me. "Good morning, beautiful." He said softly still not fully awake. "Good morning." I said and kissed his cheek. I stepped out of bed still holding onto the pole for support. "What are you doing?" Thorin asked. "I'm taking a bath and then I'm going to get breakfast." I said and walked into the bathroom.

I made a nice hot bath for myself and got into the tub. Not much later I stepped out again and got dressed. I looked in the mirror at the blue dress I was wearing. I faced to the wall with my body and looked into the mirror. I placed my hand on my stomach. There was a small bump and it was growing by the day. It wasn't big but it would only be a matter of time before I can't see my toes anymore when looking down. Thorin walked into the bathroom. "How are our babies?" he asked. "I don't know. I hope they're okay, though." I said and Thorin kissed the top of my head. "Me too. I can't wait till they're here." Thorin said and I smiled at him. "If I get dressed really quickly, do you want to get some breakfast with me?" Thorin asked and I nodded. "Of course." I said and walked out of the bathroom.

I waited for Thorin and when he was done we walked to the dinning room. We sat down at the table and Thorin's food was brought in. The servant that was bringing the food looked at me and then she bowed. "I'm sorry, My Lady. I don't have your food yet. I didn't know you were eating here. I'll go get it immediately." She said and left after bowing again. I looked at Thorin's plate and saw he hadn't taken a single bite. "You're not eating?" I asked. "I'm waiting for you to get your food." Thorin replied and I smiled. 

The servant walked back in with a plate filled with food. She placed the plate on the table in front of me and bowed. "Thank you." The servant smiled at me and walked away. Thorin and I started eating our breakfast. As we were talking the door opened. Bilbo walked towards us. "Bilbo! Good morning." I said smiling. Bilbo smiled back at me. "Is something wrong?" Thorin asked. "No, there is nothing wrong. One of Bard's men just reported back. They may have found someone with the name Doran." Bilbo said and I immediately looked at Thorin. "We should go to Dale immediately." I said wanting to stand up. Thorin placed his hand on mine. "I'll go. You stay here and finish your meal." Thorin said and stood up. "Let me come with you, please." I tried. Thorin turned to me. "Finish your meal, then join us in Dale." Thorin said and walked away with Bilbo following him.
