Dakota's POV:

The whole town was in a total chaos. Everyone was trying to flee the town before Smaug could get here. Tauriel and I were standing outside. We were looking into the distance towards the mountain. Tauriel went back inside. "We have no time. We must leave." Tauriel said. "Get him up." Bofur said to Fili. "Come on, brother." Fili said to Kili while pulling him from the chair. "We're not leaving. Not without our father." I heard Bain argue. "If you stay here, your sisters will die. Is that what your father would want?" Tauriel asked the boy. "Dakota! Come help us!" Tauriel yelled from inside the house. I didn't move. Oin came outside. "Come on, lass. We have to go." He said to me and I looked at him. "Why is Smaug here? Do you think he killed the others? Why else would he be here?" Oin grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. We went down a small stair to a boat. Everyone was already on the boat. "Dakota, Oin come quickly!" Fili practically shouted. Oin and I stepped into the boat.

Bofur and Fili were rowing. Smaug flew over the town almost touching the houses. Smaug was breathing fire and the town was burning. "Look out!" Bofur shouted. Our boat collided with another bigger one. It was the Master's boat. They didn't move out of the way for us but just kept going. Tilda almost fell off the boat but Tauriel grabbed her just in time. The Master's boat was out of sight and we continued. Tilda and Sigrid were shaking madly. I placed my arms around their shoulders. Tilda buried her face into my shoulder. "Da!" Bain exclaimed out of nowhere. I saw Bard on a tower and he was shooting arrows . "He hit it! He hit the dragon!" Kili shouted. "No." Tauriel replied. "He did! He hit his mark! I saw!" Kili continued. "His arrows cannot pierce its hide. I fear nothing will." Tauriel said. Bain grabbed a hook and jumped off the boat. "What are you doin'?!" Bofur asked. "Come back! Bain! Bain!" Fili shouted but he reached the other end and jumped on the ground. "Leave him! We cannot go back." Tauriel said.

Not much later I saw Smaug falling down. "Look! They killed him! They killed Smaug!" I yelled and we watched as we saw his body fall two streets away from us. Bofur and Fili were rowing faster and a while later we reached shore. People were searching for loved ones or getting possession on land. Sigrid and Tilda were constantly screaming for their father. We, on the other hand, were trying to get a boat into the water. As I pushed I felt something in my belly. I fell to my knees. "Ohw!" I screamed and Oin came to my side. "What's wrong, lass?" he asked. "I don't know! I felt something!" I replied. Fili helped me back on my feet. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's over." I said. Kili went to speak with Tauriel. "Kili! Come on, we're leaving!" Fili said and he helped me into the boat. Kili jumped in the boat and Bofur and Fili started rowing.

We reached the shore and we started to climb up to the mountain. After a long walk we reached the entrance of Erebor. "We're here. We're finally home." I said tears of joy filling my eyes. Fili placed his hand on my shoulder and gave me a smile. I looked inside the mountain. It looked burned. We all looked at each other and ran inside. "Hello!" Bofur yelled and his voice echoed around. "Bombur? Bifur? Anybody?"Bofur asked. We looked through the mountain and it brought back memories from when I lived here and from when Smaug attacked. A memory flashed before my eyes, Smaug breathing fire in the big hall and dwarves screaming in pain. We walked down some stairs when we heard a voice. "Wait! Wait!" "It's Bilbo!" I screamed happily. "He's alive!" Bofur exclaimed. "Stop! Stop! Stop!" Bilbo shouted. "You need to leave. We all need to leave." Bilbo said. "We only just got here." Bofur replied confused. "Bilbo what's wrong?" I asked. "I've tried talking to him, but he won't listen." "What do you mean, laddie?" Oin asked. "Thorin! Thorin. Thorin, he's been down there for days. He doesn't sleep. He barely eats. He's not himself, not at all. It's this- it's this place. I think a sickness lies on it." Bilbo said. "Sickness? What kind of sickness?" Kili asked. Fili started running down the stairs and we followed him.
