Charlotte's POV

I woke up. Oh my gosh I was 7 now, I was a big girl.
I smiled and stretched, I'd had the best birthday ever, it had been so much fun.
Oh my gosh, I sat up, I saw daddy kiss mommy.
I smiled, giggling to myself.
Daddy had put me into bed last night, but when he turned off the light I'd needed the bathroom, so I got up, they were talking at the front door and I watched them. Daddy kissed her, then he left. I stayed there and watched mommy, she closed the door smiling and then she turned around and started crying. I wanted to go and hug her but she was having private time. Mommy had told me that sometimes everybody needs private time and last night was one of those times.
I sat on the edge of my bed. I hoped mommy was crying because she was happy and not because she didn't like daddy's kiss. I thought my daddy's kisses were the best.
I put my slippers on and went down the stairs, I was trying to be quiet in case mommy was still in bed, but when I walked into the kitchen she was drinking her coffee, staring out of the window.
"Morning mommy."
"Morning." She said, turning to smile at me. "You still have your costume on."
"I was too tired." I explained.
She nodded. "Well why don't we get you some breakfast and then a bath."
A bath sounded nice.
Mom made me some waffles, she could make waffles, they always tasted okay, it's just everything else she made was a bit yucky.
"Did you enjoy your party." She asked me.
I nodded. "It was the best."
"It was." She agreed smiling.
"What was your favorite part?" I asked her, hoping she would say daddy's kiss.
"The jumping castle, definitely."
I smiled, she was right, the jumping castle was the best.
After I finished mom dragged me upstairs, running a bath and washing my hair. I hated getting my hair washed but mommy said what she always said to me. "You're lucky you got your father's hair Charlotte and not mine." But I loved mommy's hair, it was so curly and pretty.
"You staying in for a while?" She asked and I nodded, I liked to play a bit, pretend I was a mermaid.
Mom kissed my head and left, I layed back, closing my eyes and tried to float, it was hard. I could float in the pool but never in the bath.
"Are you ever getting out?" Mommy asked, coming back in.
"You look pretty mommy." Her hair was nice and she had on a little bit of make up.
"Don't be silly Charlotte."
The doorbell rang.
"Better hurry." Mommy told me. "That'll be daddy."
Daddy! Nobody told me daddy was coming.
I jumped out, drying myself, well sort of drying myself, because now I was in a hurry, I got dressed and quickly ran downstairs. Mommy and daddy were in the kitchen.
"Daddy."
"Hi." He said smiling.
I climbed onto his lap. "How come you're here?" I asked.
"Because I need to speak with mommy."
I looked at mommy and she looked out the window.
"And you had better go and get ready." He told me. "Uncle Brian and Aunty Sophie are coming any minute to take you to the beach."
"I don't want to go, I want to stay here." I wanted to know what my mommy and daddy were going to talk about.
"Charlotte." Daddy said softly. "Mommy and daddy need some private time. Okay?" And he kissed my nose.
I nodded yes, but I meant no, it wasn't okay, I didn't like it one little bit.
I hoped down and went upstairs, getting on my swimmers and grabbing my beach bag.
Why couldn't they talk in front of me?
"Charlotte." Mommy called. "They're here."
I went back downstairs and they both kissed me before I went out and got in the car.
"Are you ready for some fun?" Aunt Sophie asked me.
I looked at her and I couldn't help it, I burst into tears.
"Oh my goodness Charlotte." Aunty Sophie said, digging around in her giant purse and pulling out a tissue. "What's wrong?"
She handed me the tissue. "I think, I think my mommy and daddy are getting a divorce." I wailed.
"Oh sweety, of course not." Uncle Brian told me.
I looked over at Addie, she was looking at me with her bottom lip out and tears running down her cheeks. She always cried when someone else did, mommy said she was a sensitive soul, but she didn't look too sensitive yesterday eating my birthday cake.
"Charlotte honey, they're only talking, that's all." Aunty Sophie said.
I wiped my face and then wiped Addie's. "Are you sure?"
"I am absolutely sure."
Good.
I looked out the window, it was a nice day for the beach.
"They're probably wrestling." Gabby whispered.
I shook my head at her. Gabby told me that her mom and dad wrestle all the time, she'd seen them in their bed.
"I don't think so."
"Yeah." She said. "That's what mom's and dad's do when they're alone."
I looked out the window again, maybe they were wrestling, but I don't know what for. Surely daddy would beat mommy at wrestling?
Well I decided I hoped they were wrestling, because it was better than divorce.
