Jayden's POV
I followed Kendall in the carnival. "So what first?" He smiled. I watched as our siblings walked ahead of us.
"I don't know." We walked around for a bit.
After hours of playing, we walked back to the car. I struggled to carry the two big stuffed bears Kendall had won me. "Let me take those." I smiled as he took the bears and draped an arm over my shoulder.
"Thanks." We got in. My phone buzzed.
Twin💕😘: Would you just tell him you love him?
To Twin💕😘: I don't love him. He's my best friend.
She looked at me and rolled her eyes. I shook my head. Kyle pulled up to our house. My parent's weren't home. "Let's go." We got out, walking inside.
"Jay I really need to talk to you." Kendall whispered in my ear. I nodded, grabbing his hand. We ran up to my room.
"What's wrong?" I stood in front of him. When he didn't say anything I started to worry. "Kenda-" I was cut off by his lips. I was shocked but I oddly felt fine with it. I kissed back, my hands on his biceps. He pulled away and stared down at me.
"Jayden I love you." His eyes searched mine. "Completely head over heels in love with you."
"Kendall." I looked down. "You can't be. You're my best friend." He stepped back.
"Jayden-" I shook my head. "Let me talk. Please." I sat on my bed. "I have liked you for a few years now and my feelings have only gotten stronger since then."
"But you have a girlfriend a-"
"Who I broke up with."
"But I'm your best friend. We've been best friends since we were in diapers. It doesn't seem right." He looked down.
"Jay," He pulled me up, holding me close. "Let me show you how right it could be." I looked up at him. He cupped my cheeks and kissed me again. I kissed back, my hands on his forearms. His hands slid down to my waist. He traced my lip. I granted him access, my senses overcome with this unusual feeling. His tongue explored my mouth, my arms snaking around his neck.
He picked me up, placing me on the bed. He trailed kisses to my neck, a soft moan escaping my lips. "I love you." His whisper sent chills down my spine. "Every inch of you." I gasped when he grinded his crotch against mine.
"Kendall! I'm not ready." I pushed him back, looking up at him.
"I know love." He smiled. I smiled and he got up. "I really do love you Jayden. Just give me a chance?" I looked into his pleading eyes. I bit my lip, looking at my lap. "Hey, hey. It's okay." I looked at him. "Just think about it." I nodded. He leaned in and I backed away. "Right. Sorry." He slid over.
"You're not a disease. Come here." He smiled, pulling me in his arms. I laid my head on his shoulder, thinking. Kendall has always been my best friend and at times he seemed like a brother, but now I feel it'd be awkward if we dated. I glanced up at him, staring at my ceiling. I could only remember one time he had hurt me and it was an accident that he beat himself up for months. "I will give you one chance to prove to me that you aren't lying about being in love with me."
"Really?" Excitement evident in his voice. I smiled, nodding.
"One chance! Screw up once and you're back to being my best friend."
"Okay." I smiled. He pulled me closer, kissing my temple. "I love you beautiful."
"Ken-"
"You don't have to say it immediately." I smiled and he pecked my cheek. "Jay?"
"Yes?" I looked up at him.
"Where are your glasses?" I pointed to my bedside table. He grabbed them, putting them on my face. He pulled a hair tie off my wrist, revealing one of my most recent cuts. "What's this?" He grabbed my arm, staring at the healing self injury.
"Nothing." I jerked my arm from his hand. He pulled my wavy hair back into a ponytail.
"We've been best friends since we were in diapers. I know you're lying. What happened?" He looked at me.
"It was an accident. I got home the other day from dance and I accidentally cut my wrist on purpose while I was shaving." I looked down, rubbing my thighs.
"Come on." He dragged me to the bathroom. He took some of my body wash and a washcloth. He wiped my arms, washing away the concealer. I blushed lightly. He looked down at me with glossy eyes and I sighed. I pulled my jeans off. "Jayden why?" A tear slid down his cheek.
"This is exactly why I didn't tell you." I wiped the tear off. "I've been getting bullied a little bit. And I'm being compared to Jaylen a lot." Tears welled up in my eyes.
"Why wouldn't you tell me this?" He cupped my cheeks.
"Because I don't need help. I'm fine on my own." I removed his hands from my face and started to pick up my jeans. My blurred vision cleared as a few tears spilled over.
"Jay everyone needs help now and then. It's okay to admit it and ask." He kissed my tears away. "It's okay love." He pulled me close, hugging me tightly. I softly cried into his shoulder. I stopped crying and just enjoyed the safe embrace. "You're beautiful, intelligent, and talented. You are Jayden not Jaylen." I looked up at him. "And the only girl that I love." I smiled and kissed him. The difference in height made me stand on my toes. He picked me up, my legs wrapping around his torso. I pulled away and smiled.
"I should put my jeans back on." I giggled. Kendall put me down. I recovered my scars with my makeup. I quickly put on my jeans, jumping into his arms. I nuzzled my face in his neck, running my hands through his hair. "Your hair is soft." He chuckled, carrying me to my room. He laid me on the bed, placing a soft kiss on my lips.
"See you tomorrow beautiful." He smiled and turned to walk out. I grabbed his wrist and he looked at me. I slid over, giving him space to lay beside me. "I'll go tell Kyle." I nodded. He walked out. I heard muffled conversation and got up.
Kendall's POV
I ran into Kyle in the hall. "Did you tell her?"
"Yeah. She's giving me a chance. I just don't want to mess up."
"Mate, I've seen you with that other girl. You treated her like a queen and she walked over you. The way Kenzie treated you was terrible and she cheated on you. Jayden has been your best friend since before we could talk."
"I know." I smiled. "Anyway, I'm going to stay here with her tonight." He nodded. His eyes widened. I turned around. "Jayden."
"See you later Kyle."
