Alyss Granger: First Year

R-er, Extra Credit

CHAPTER 12

Luckily for me my Extra Credit class was very soon so I departed the Common Room very quickly.

“Hey, Alyss, I’m coming with you!” He said catching up to me. “I don’t want to stay with Teddy and Tom.”

“No, I wouldn’t either.” I said.

We were now arriving at the Transfiguration classroom.

“Hello Miss Granger and Mr. Ester. Today we are taking a test to see how far you are.” Professor Renold said.

I heard Matt mutter something. “I came here to take an extra test.”

“Oh no professor, I was just escorting Alyss.” Matt said evasively.

“Nonsense, Mr. Ester, why don’t we just see?”

“Okay professor.” He said unhappily and I almost laughed.

We then sat down and I looked at my test. I would have to think really hard about everything I read over break for this. I found it wasn’t too hard. But it was difficult.

“I will be telling you your results separately. Mr. Ester, you first.”  She said and had a few words with him. I could tell he wasn’t happy. “Miss Granger?”

I walked slowly. I started to feel like I did worse than Matt. I can’t believe I volunteered for this stress. But I needed to have good grades. A breathed a deep breath as I leveled with her desk.

“This is very good.” I looked up. Did she say what I thought she said? “This class is almost over so next class I’ll teach you how to turn a twig into a quill.”

Matt and I walked out together. “What do you have to do?” He asked.

“I get to change a twig into a quill!” I said happily I was so excited it would be so cool!

“Lucky. I have to practice switching spells.” He grumbled looking unhappy. I winced in sympathy.

We passed Teddy and Tom in the hall. It looked like they had stopped bickering.

“If she makes you take a test then tell me and I’ll never get a detention.” Matt said.

“She made you take a test?!” Teddy said laughing. “I’d rather take the detention!”

“Tell me about it!” Matt grumbled.

“Yeah but he has to change a match to a needle again. I get to do a twig to quill. Which she says is perfect because there are a lot of twigs and whenever I need a quill I can get one!” I said.

“Yeah because when would I need a needle?” Matt grumbled. I just sighed. They weren’t interested in walking to detention were they?

“We have to go, R-er, Teddy.” Tom said and Teddy grinned. Well, he didn’t say Rainbow.

“Thank you, R-er, Tom.” Teddy smirked.

I just rolled my eyes and walked away with Matt jogging in my wake.

“Password?” The Fat Lady asked elegantly.

“Lune.” Matt said dully.

“I’m going to bed.” I announced yawning.

“What? Oh, you finished your essay.” He said. “I just need an inch.”

I walked to bed and collapsed. Hogwarts was fun. But it also was busy. I had never had a busier day in my life. But I liked Hogwarts. I smiled. I wouldn’t leave here for the world.
