Who's DADA professor?

CHAPTER 17

We walked up to the school together thinking. We walked right up to the headmistress’ office still in silence.

“Strawberry sherbet.” said Harry quietly.

We got on. And soon we opened the door.

“Ah. Harry, Hermione.” The portrait of Dumbledore said. “Why are you two here without Ron?”

“Yes, we were just wondering that.” I said.

“And I do believe I have the answer.” McGonagall said descending the stairs. “You two are the most accomplished at Defense Against the Dark Arts. Hermione, in theory and Harry, in practical. I know you are both very well in the others’ field but not the best.”

“Very true, Minerva!” the portrait commented.

“Recently,” she continued. “Our professor went missing. We have been looking for her since her disappearance on Friday morning. The students know about that. I told them. So I need a temporary replacement. And you two are the most qualified.”

“So which one of us do you want?” I asked.

“I was wondering which one of you wanted the post.” She said simply.

“I can’t take it. I have too much work and I need to investigate this tomorrow, as head Auror.” Harry said.

“But I have Hugo and Ron can’t stand five minutes without me!” I said.

“Hermione, Ron can stay with Ginny and me for a bit.” Harry said urgently. “And you said you were done with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.”

“Yes, I suppose I was. I’ll take it.” I said grudgingly.

“Yes, I knew one of you would.” Professor McGonagall said.

“I’ll just go to Ron and tell him.” I said.

“There’s a small place where you can apparate in my office.” She said and led me up. She pointed to an odd corner.

I turned and apparated right to my house.

“RON! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LOOK AFTER HUGO!” I yelled as Hugo screamed.

“Yes, I know I just fell asleep.”

“Wake up because we’re going to Ginny and Harry’s place.” I said.

“We’re doing what?!” He said now wide awake.

“You are going to be staying at their house while I am at Hogwarts. I’m the replacement DADA teacher. The other one went missing.” I said waving my wand and Hugo and Rose’s clothing that they would need was packed.

“Okay.” Ron grunted and mimicked me. His clothes were instantly packed.

I then got the other stuff we needed to do done. I vanished the trash did the dishes and folded some things. In about a minute or two.

Artemis then came flying through the window. I was a bit confused but I was, most of all, shocked. I was having a talk with Teddy when I got to Hogwarts. Nobody had ever thought that he would call anyone, never mind Alyss, mudblood.

“Ron, you’re in charge of the luggage. I have Hugo and Rose.” I said calmly as Ron disapparated and I was right on his tail.

“Oh good it didn’t take you too long to wake Ron up.” Ginny said briskly.

“How’d you know she had to wake me up?” He asked slyly.

“Sorry mate, but it was a bit obvious by the fact that Hermione had Rose and Hugo.” Harry said coming in.

I smirked and Ron scowled.

“Just so you know Ron, you’ll be waking up exactly when Rose or Hugo wakes up.” Ginny said.

“Now I need to go to Hogwarts.” I said briskly.

I had gone home and gotten my stuff immediately and I went straight to Hogsmeade where I discovered a thestral waiting for me.

I smiled sadly and mounted it. I had been able to see them ever since the war. Death was everywhere that night and all the people who survived were able to see them.

“Hogwarts,” I whispered softly.

I soon arrived. McGonagall showed me to my rooms and I fell asleep instantly. I woke up at 7:30 and I realized I needed to get to the Great Hall for 8:00. I used a bit of magic to unpack and make my bed. I changed quickly and was down in the hall by 7:49.

Alyss’ PoV

I was groggy when I awoke after all that worrying. I descended the stairs slowly at 8:10. I went to the Great Hall. It was filled with confusion coming at me in waves. I sat down just in time to have the headmistress stand up. And yes, I did sit next to Tom, Matt and Teddy.

“As some of you noticed we have not managed to locate Professor Mallowsweet. However, classes will still occur today. Professor Hermione Weasley has kindly filled the post.”

My head snapped up. Professor… Weasley? It was Hermione?

“Did she just say Hermione?” I whispered to Tom and he nodded up at the staff table where Hermione sat.

I snuck a peek at Teddy and he was finding his sausages quite interesting. I looked at him darkly.

As soon as breakfast was over I saw Hermione, er, Professor Weasley, walk down from the staff table and she walked right up to me.

“Want to walk Alyss?” She said sweetly. Teddy was now moving on to his strawberries.

“Sure, professor.” I said just as sweetly, Hermione just laughed.

We walked out into the entrance hall and when I snuck a peek back Teddy was still interested, very much, in his food.

“Now tell me everything. Down to the last detail.” She said in a voice that was not to be contradicted. And I didn’t, I gave her every last detail.

I apologize for my lateness. I haven't been able to type much so I just finished the chapter at 1:00 and I posted it immediately. I'll try really hard to post again soon. I might even post tonight if I can type the next one. But I did an extra long chapter in apology. I understand many of you dislike Matt/Alyss pairing and I will put an end to it soon. If you do like it tell me and I might be able to keep it for a bit longer. But Alyss isn't going to end up with him I promise!
