CHAPTER 22

We, as in Teddy and I, ate dinner really quickly and exited the hall. We left before pudding, much to Teddy’s annoyance.

“Why did we have to leave before pudding?” he whined.

“So we won’t be overheard you prat.” I hissed.

We rounded a narrow corridor and approached Harry and Hermione. Ginny and Ron must be at the house with the kids.

“Hi Teddy, Alyss.” Harry said. Teddy replied enthusiastically. I was not as happy.

“So what’s up?” I said.

“We have enough Hermiones we don’t need you too, Alyss.” Harry said but I glared at him “Fine, someone’s after the Hallows. They threatened to get Ginny, but there is no way they’d get her. They have the second object. We are getting 4 Aurors stationed here, Dean, Ron, Erin and, er, Michelle.”

“Can you trust them?” Hermione said.

“Well, Dean is Dean, and Ron has been my best friend since first year and he’s my second. But Erin is my fourth. And Michelle is in Dean, and Erin’s team. And we know I won’t put Ginny on this one. I don’t put the threatened to protect that which they are threatened with.” Harry said smoothly.

“But Michelle…” Hermione started.

“I put her with Dean and Erin for a reason! Now I have to get them over here to guard the first object! I trust them, Hermione!” Harry yelled.

“I was just, we need to have complete trust and, just I didn’t know.” Hermione said.

“I swear if we find any suspicion with any of them, even Dean, I will personally give them Veritaserum. How’s that?”

“Yes, it just seems like Voldemort’s back, all this confusion, Diana Mallowsweet didn’t just go on an unexplained vacation!” Hermione said.

“It is odd, no traces, and I can’t understand any motive. Besides the fact that she was a Defense teacher. It defiantly creates fear.” Harry said. They seemed to have forgotten Teddy and I were here.

“Unless they wanted to lure a certain person to become professor. If it was any other subject it would be someone else but someone wanted one of you at Hogwarts.” I said.

“Bloody hell Alyss, I forgot you were here!” Harry said.

“She does have a point. But they took a big chance of exposing themselves just on the chance it was one of us. These people planned, a lot. But who could? The Imperius Curse would help. Do you think it was a former Death Eater? We only let the Malfoys escape imprisonment.”

“Hermione, Narcissa saved my life.”

“We let Lucius out too,”

“He was trying to save Narcissa and Malfoy!”

“There’s no need to raise your voice, Potter and stop accusing my family, Weasley, I would tell you.” Professor Malfoy said. “And Granger, Lupin, you’re supposed to be in the Great Hall.”

“No they can stay.” Harry said.

“You have no authority on that Potter.”

“I want them to stay; they were present if you remember.” Hermione said. “And Alyss contributed a good theory.”

“And what might that be?” Malfoy said.

“I really don’t see why we should trust you.” Harry said.

“Because I understood that patronus’ message. As much as you two did.”

Harry and Hermione’s surprise was very visible as was mine. I had limited knowledge and now Professor Malfoy knows as much as Harry and Hermione. And when Hermione know something she knows a lot about it. Hermione, however, voiced the question, “why should I trust you?”

He smiled, “Then do legimency on me, I know Occlumens but I won’t do it. I know you can, Weasley.”

Hermione stared at him but raised her wand, “Legimens.”

They stayed that way for about 10 minutes when Hermione finally lowered her wand. “He’s telling the truth,” she announced.

Harry nodded, I believed him, not at first but the second he asked Hermione to do legimency. Teddy looked very shocked.

“So, collaboration,” Harry said, “I’ll ask Ginny to have Fleur and Bill look after Rose and Hugo and James, Albus and Lily can go to the burrow.” Hermione nodded. Harry left to send his patronus.

“And Alyss and Teddy can leave.” Hermione added.

“But Hermione,” I said.

“You’re underage and as creative as your ideas may be, it’s dangerous. And things are going to be tense enough without you. We were school enemies, Ron, Harry and him especially, things aren’t going to go over well, and I had to hex Ron when I told him the staff appointment, telling him about this will not be pleasant. And I mean that Teddy.” Hermione added.

“I’ll get him to do his homework.” I said.

“Hey, I did that!”

“You’re History of Magic essay?” I asked slyly.

“Not really…”

“I thought so.”

Hey, I have recently decided to try for the 50th time at least, to stop biting my nails and I would appreciate any ideas as to how to get me to stop. I'm currently employing the nail polish idea. Odds are that will fail so please help!
