CHAPTER 18

“If I was there when Teddy did that he would have a month’s worth of detentions! I wish I could get him for that but it occurred when I had no authority therefore I am talking to Neville about it. We’ll both be keeping a closer eye on Teddy.” She said gravely and angrily.

“I think he’s already doing that.” I said smartly.

“Nevertheless I should warn him.”

“I assure you, Hermione, I have a particularly big watch on Teddy since he walked in and for good reason if you would look at my face.” Neville Longbottom said walking up, with one of Teddy’s cardboard food/purple explosion in his hand and a purple face.

I roared with laughter as Hermione looked reproachful. “He didn’t.”

“No, he didn’t, he and Tom Patil did. They have a week’s worth detention and 20 points from Gryffindor.”

“NO!” I shouted.

“Each.” He finished even more gravely.

“Alyss, stop looking like that, they deserved it.” Hermione said strictly.

“Yeah, they did but not all of Gryffindor!”

“Yes, it was necessary, detentions have an effect on Mr. Patil but none whatsoever on Teddy.” Neville said at the same time as Hermione said, “‘Yes, because detentions seem to have no effect on you.’ In fifth year, Headmistress McGonagall said it to Harry.”

I glared at both of them annoyed. I would just have to get points in classes. But forty points was a lot.
“And tell, Mr. Lupin, that we need to talk and he better not blow me off, or else.” Hermione said radiating anger. When Hermione said, ‘or else’ you never contradicted her or did anything wrong. (Or else!)

I rushed into the Great Hall and looked at Teddy for the first time in a day or so? “Professor Weasley says that you need to talk and that you better not blow her off, or else.” I said quickly. I had a sort of talent for repeating things that were said to me exactly.

“You are talking to me now?” He shot at me quietly, in a completely un-Teddy-like way.

“Yes, I suppose I am, Lupin.” I said quickly.

“Now repeat that message slower, I couldn’t understand you.” He said with complete slowness. I narrowed my eyes.

“Professor Weasley says that you need to talk and that you better not blow her off, or else.” I repeated slowly.

“Oh Merlin, she’s going to murder me.” Teddy said jumping up.

“I’m glad you’re not too dim to notice that, and start taking your own notes in History of Magic because I am not lending you mine.” I said knowing that would have a great impact on him. And he turned around.

“PLEASE?” He begged. “I haven’t got the skill to stay awake!”

“No, anyway you wouldn’t want help from someone like me would you? And Hermione’s waiting.” I said innocently.

As he walked away I thought I heard, “These Grangers are going to kill me.”

I smirked satisfactorily as he walked away.

Teddy’s PoV

I walked gloomily into Hermione’s anger.

The second she saw me she started scolding me at high speed, which was useless as only Alyss can understand her when she does that.

“TeddyRemusLupinwhydidyoucallherMudblood?SheknowsabunchmorethaneverysinglefirstyeareventheRavenclaws!Ican’tbelieveitofyou!IwillbewritingtoyourgrandmotherandgrandmotherWeasleyandhopefullyyouwillgetaWeasleyhowleryoudisgrace!Howcouldyousaysuchathingtoyourchildhoodandcurrentupuntilthisfriend!Youdesrveallthisthatyouaregetting!YoudeservetobecalledMudbloodoranamejustasbad!YouareagitandpratandalltheothernamesIcouldpossiblythinkup!Andtheworstpartisyoudeserveit?Don’tyoufeelanyremorse?”

“Er. I have no idea what you just said.” I said. I think she gave me a question so I knew I couldn’t just pretend I understood.

“Teddy Remus Lupin, why did you call her Mudblood? She knows a bunch more than every single first year even the Ravenclaws! I can’t believe it of you! I will be writing to your grandmother and grandmother Weasley and hopefully you will get a Weasley howler, you disgrace! How could you say such a thing to your childhood and current up until this, friend! You deserve all this that you are getting! You deserve to be called Mudblood or a name just as bad! You are a git and prat and all the other names I could possibly think up! And the worst part is you deserve it! Don’t you feel any remorse?”

“Yes, I do feel a lot of remorse I tried to apologize to her but at the beginning I was really tactless so she doesn’t believe me. I know I deserve it and I am the biggest git or prat and maybe even, wait, am both! I acted in the heat of the moment and I am not justifying it! I wish I could turn back time and I don’t think a time turner would work…

“And I understand I earned all those Howlers. I don’t even know what to do! I really just want Alyss to forgive me and I don’t know what I could possibly do to show her I’m sorry! I think it’s just torture not knowing if she’s ever going to be my friend again. If I had a way to show her how I feel then I would show her in a second but if I told her these things then she must just think I was making it up. And, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO!”

Hermione was shocked by my speech. “I really don’t know. I never had Ron or Harry call me Mudblood maybe you should ask Harry as Ron is so tactless.”

“You don’t need to apologize. I heard you loud and clear.” Alyss said appearing from behind me, the entrance hall. I had been so busy trying to make Hermione understand I hadn’t thought that I could be overheard, by Alyss nonetheless.

“And you tell me off for eavesdropping.”

“Yes, but this did turn for the best didn’t it? So you can’t really complain.” She was righter than Tom sometimes! And he was right an awful lot.

“So you’re talking to me now?”

“Yes, I suppose I am, Teddy.”

I know that wasn't the best chapter but I had to clear up that problem before making another. I can't keep track of more than one. I have ADD. Does that explain?

Anyway, I'm sorry for the late update. I've been at my lake house and the internet died. AGAIN. So on Friday, I'm going to a place and there's no internet or even cell phone reception!So I won't be updating for a week. However, I want to bring my computer so I'll have a lot typed up as a apology!
