I really should have thought about it but I didn’t.

“Look its Zabini.” Teddy said and I knew why we went to the lake, to pick on the Slytherins.

When Ben Zabini saw us he headed right towards us. “Hey, it’s Lupin.”

“How are you doing without your girlfriend?” Teddy taunted standing. And we all copied.

“Teddy.” I warned him.

“I see you still have yours. She hasn’t run yet?” He said and that good Matt angry.

“Don’t you dare insult Alyss she is my girlfriend! You git!” Matt said.

“Ooh. Little paper boy is fighting? Your mummy won’t like that.”

“Leave his mum out of this!” Teddy said.

“Little Lupin is your mummy dead? Is daddy dead too? Does daddy miss his little puppy? His little werewolf puppy, how are your transformations?” Zabini teased.

Teddy’s eyes flashed but nobody expected what he did next he turned his face into a copy of Zabini’s but it was way uglier and distorted.  “Is it like looking in the mirror? I don’t know how your mother stands it she must cry herself to sleep at night.”

Zabini pulled out his wand. But Matt beat him. “Locomotor Mortis!” He yelled but he missed.

Zabini instead turned his wand on me and soon my wand and Tom’s were out. “I will hex her.” He sneered.

“You will not Petrificus Totalus!” I said angrily and he took a second to think of the spell that was but he fell to the ground with the body bind spell.

“You are going to be in so much trouble, Alyss.” Tom said.

“Miss Granger?” Professor Neville Longbottom our Herbology professor said.

“Yes professor?” I said.

“Come with me.” He said gravely.

I followed him into the greenhouses. “Alyss, I know that you hexed Mr. Zabini for a reason. May I know what that reason is?”

“He threatened to hex me. And Petrificus Totalus can be easily undone so I cursed him.” I said looking down.

“Alyss, I don’t care what he said to you. You are the better wizard and you could have easily dodged whatever spell he tried to get you with. When he hexed you then you could have cursed him but your timing was not good so five points from Gryffindor.”

“But professor!” I started but he cut me off.

“And detention with me. Today at 6:30.” He finished inviting no answers.

“Yes professor.” I mumbled.

“Now go make sure Teddy hasn’t hexed Mr. Zabini.” He said with a wink.

I went back out of greenhouse two and Tom, Teddy and Matt ambushed me.

“What happened?”

“Was there points taken?”

Then Teddy said, “I hexed Zabini for you and Minerva gave me detention. D            no you have detention?”

“Yes I do and 5 points from Gryffindor.”

“Me too!” Teddy said. “I have detention with Filch though so I wish Neville had caught me too.”

“I can’t believe you haven’t realized this, Teddy, but you have detention with Filch because you have too much fun with Professor Longbottom.” Tom said. “Why are you so pleased about getting detention?”

“I want to kick Mrs. Morris.” He said simply.

“Teddy! No, you’ll get behind on homework and when you apply for a job they’ll look at your Hogwarts records and they’ll see all this trouble! This mess!” I said. How could he even think about something like that? “And you’ll lose 50 points because of Filch’s new kindness thing!”

“I won’t lose anything you’ll earn the other 50.” Teddy said waving his hand as if it were nothing.

“How do you know?!” I said my temper rising.

“Because you’re Alyssa.” Teddy said smirking at the same time Matt said. “Because you’re kind.”

He knew I hated that name. Alyss was my real name but when my parents got mad they said Alyssa and I hated it. “Don’t call me Alyssa.” I seethed, annunciating every word. “And you will not kick Mrs. Morris.”

“Or what? You’ll tell?” He teased.

“No, I’ll write to Grandmothers Tonks and Weasley. And you’ll get an infamous Weasley howler.”

Teddy didn’t back off though. “Do you want me as your enemy, Alyssa?”

“Don’t make me hex you, Ted.” And we stared at each other. The problem is nobody can stare me down. I don’t have to blink very often so I just kept staring as Teddy started to blink then finally turned away.

As he turned away I heard him mutter, “Mudblood.”

Matt and Tom looked at each other. Matt gestured to Teddy and Tom nodded. Matt stood by me and Tom next to Teddy. Tom led Teddy, who was still scowling at me, towards the greenhouses and Matt led me into the castle, to lunch.

“What?” I shot at him.

“Nothing, actually, Tom and I just thought it would be smart to separate you and Teddy, for safety reasons. But when you two turn seventeen I swear there is going to be spells flying everywhere.” Matt said.

“We’ll have to wait until we’re out of school because of my birthday.” I said.

“Which is bloody good luck for Tom and I.” He said.

“Oh, is it really you git!” I said.

“Alyss, calm down. I was joking. It was just a joke.” He said slowly trying to calm me down.

I seethed at him. “Just leave me alone. Do your homework or something!” I yelled and I ran back to the castle.

I ran right into my dorm. How could he? He was supposed to be nice to me! Like my brother! Teddy and I were so close always and he had done that to me!
