Three Musketeers

The group walked through the town. The sun was still rising as they went. Caviar looked around. Something was wrong. No pony was outside, sure it was early in the morning but horses were usually out by now.

"Is it abnormally quiet to you two?" Caviar kept looking around falling a little behind Trooper and Totillas. The two stallions stopped and looked around. Caviar accidentally bumped into Trooper then stopped.

"Ya... Usually there's horses out by now..." Trooper shifted uncomfortably while he looked around. Totillas tried to look for anything suspicious but it was just them. Had they come home to the right town? Was every pony just still asleep? Something just wasn't right.

"I don't see anything. Let's just keep moving. Stay alert." Totillas began walking again. Trooper and Caviar followed closely behind him watching for anything.

The group walked through the entire town and never saw any other pony. What could have happened? They were only gone for a day.

"This is weird... I don't like this..." Caviar swished her tail up and down. Totillas saw that the other two were a little nervous. Little was sugar coating it. He could practically see Trooper shaking.

"It's okay there probably a logical explanation for all of this." Totillas looked around. Trooper shifted on his hooves.

Suddenly a scream pierced the air sending chills down the groups spines. The three didn't think twice. They all galloped toward the scream at full speed.

"Caviar, I want you to hang back just incase something goes wrong. Trooper, I want you with me." Totillas galloped through the streets. Caviar slowed to a canter still following them but creating some distance between her and the stallions.

Trooper kept up with Totillas as they slid around the sharp corner seeing a palomino mare tied to a post in the center of the square. Trooper stopped a little before her as Totillas began to untie her.

"What happened?" Totillas said muffled trying to pull the ropes off.

"Go! You shouldn't be here!" The mare struggled in the ropes. She knew what was happening and was scared of what was to come.

"Why not?" Totillas raised an eye brow as he continued to untie her.

"Get out of here! Both of you! It's a trap!" She whinnied and flailed around trying to free herself. Trooper looked around not seeing any pony, anywhere. Totillas laughed it off and kept untying the mare.

Caviar stood a block away from the other two. She listened closely to what was happening. She wish she was there to help but she had to follow Totillas's orders. She kicked a pebble bored and sighed.

Totillas finally got the mare untied. The mare looked around really spooked. Trooper looked at the mare confused.

"What happened?" Totillas looked at the mare trying to see if he could get any information out of her.

"Your shouldn't be here!" The mare started pushing Totillas away. Out of no where a gun shot broke the silence. The mare fell to the ground dead as blood pooled around her head.

Totillas jumped back wards startled. Trooper grabbed his gun and looked around. No pony was outside. No pony was at any of the Windows. The two exchanged confused glances.

There was nothing but silence. What was going on? Who was that mare and why did she get shot? Totillas couldn't figure anything out.

"This has gotten to a whole new level of weird, and that's saying something if that's coming from me." Trooper flicked his ears around.

Caviar looked at the buildings bored. The front door to a red brick building was slightly opened. She stared at it and slowly made her way to the door.

Caviar nudged the door open all the way with her nose. The building was completely empty. No furniture. No counters. No signs of horses. No nothing.

Caviar continued her exploration up stairs. She looked around. Still absolutely nothing. This couldn't have been right. The horses who lived here talked to Caviar the day before. Where'd they go?

Caviar trotted down the stairs and out of the house. She looked around. This place looked really strange to her so she kept investigating. Every house she went into was empty. Every business she went into was empty. Everything was just. Empty.

Totillas and Trooper heard the sound of hooves getting closer to the but when they turned around it was just Caviar.

"I told you to wait." Totillas looked at Caviar.

"Ya well while I was waiting I went in to a few of the houses here and they're all empty. Every. Single. One of them. Empty." Caviar looked at Trooper.

"That can't be right... We were here just yesterday how is everything gone? That's not possible!" Totillas looked around.

"Let's go check the forests then. Maybe there's some traces of where every pony went to!" Trooper smiled. This town gave him the creeps for some reason and it never had before.

"Good idea." Totillas galloped to the outskirts of the town toward the forest. Caviar looked at the trees.

"Did the forest change?" She tilted her head as she galloped. Trooper looked at Caviar very confused.

Totillas kept galloping but then smashed into the wall of the glass dome they were trapped in. He laid there dizzy.

"What... The... Heck..." Trooper looked at the face mark Totillas just left on the crystal clear glass.

Caviar looked around but then something caught her eye. She saw other horses in their houses and even on the streets! She reared and galloped that way. Totillas and Trooper followed her.

Of course! All of the horses were probably just celebrating at a festival that the group forgot about! Caviar smiled in relief.

The three made it to the horses. None of the horses moved. Caviar looked at all of them and so did Trooper and Totillas.

Caviar knocked over one of the horses. It's legs fell off and it's head and neck broke apart.

"None of these horses are real..." Trooper knocked over another and watched it fall to pieces.

"Where are we?..." Caviar looked around actually scared now. She scooted closer to Totillas.

"I don't know." Totillas looked around. It looked just like their town but nothing was the same.
