Band of Brothers

"Please Shadow! Please can't we just stop!" Tris cried out in pain trying to keep up with the colts as best she could but with the condition her leg was in she was no match for their pace.

Shadow was pissed. Never in his many times that he had done this had he ever had to deal with such a whiney little filly. Shadow snorted and stopped right there. Zane bumped into Shadow not expecting him to stop there so fast.

"Sorry!" Zane knew Shadow was already mad so he didn't want to make it any worse.

"You're fine." Shadow turned around and trotted back to Tris who was now fully laying on the ground. He removed the medical wrap around her leg and examined it closely. It had become infected. Shadow grounded his teeth together annoyed, not at Tris but at the fact he let this happen because now she's slowing them down.

"How bad is it?" Tris said with her head still laying on the ground. She didn't want to look at it because she hated seeing stuff like this. It brought back to many bad memories.

"Well... It's no where near good." Shadow exhaled sharply knowing he never wanted to do this again but he had to for his friend. "There's a town not to far from here. The doctor there will be able to help you."

Zane helped Shadow get Tris onto her hooves again. The two colts helped the filly walk to the town. Shadow let Tris lean on him more than Zane because he was stronger than Zane.

The three walked through the towns alleyways. Shadow didn't want any of them to be seen by others because he knew the news of the escape had reached all over Kevland by this point.

"Wait here." Shadow helped Tris over to a wall and let her lean on it with Zane. Shadow trotted out of the alleyway and up a ramp to a small doctors office. He went inside while the two waited outside alone.

Zane looked around. His hair was standing on edge. He didn't feel safe but he knew they were hidden.

After what seemed like forever Shadow finally trotted back down the ramp and into the alleyway with a tall palomino paint pony. The pony helped Tris walk into the doctors office while Zane and Shadow trailed behind them.

The pony took Tris into one of the rooms to be able to work on her leg. Shadow and Zane had to wait out in the waiting room. Zane wondered around looking at everything curious while Shadow sat on one of the couches.

Shadow watched Zane walk around the room admiring everything. He exhaled thinking about the last time he was here with the last group of foals he had. He was sitting in this exact spot with the two other fillies while the colt he was saving with the fillies was getting the wound he had on his neck fixed up. Rorke had found them and set the building on fire. The entire city was surrounded by Kevland Knights when the foals bolted out of the building coughing from the smoke. Rorke waited for them right out side and cut one of the fillies heads off. Shadow watched helplessly as the colt whinnied for help from the burning building with the pony who was helping him. The other filly Shadow was trying to save was taken by one of the Knights before Shadow could have done anything. He bolted from the town scared for his life.

Shadow closed his eyes tight remembering those events. He told himself everyday that he would never let that happen again. His leg shook as he waited.

Zane found a stack of papers on a table. He hopped up into the chair and sat down looking at them all. His breath got caught in his chest when he read a wanted poster for three foals that described Shadow, Tris, and him perfectly. The reward was $600,000 dead or alive.

Zane slowly get out of the chair and walked over and sat close to Shadow scared. He tried to brush it off but the words dead or alive kept running through his head. If he was dead he wouldn't have to live through being a slave again but then he would never have the chance of escaping and seeing his sister who is a slave in Nibiru once again. But if he was caught and returned alive he would have a greater amount of pain he'd have to live through.

The two colts waited patiently for the pony to finish up on Tris's leg. They both had thoughts running through their heads. Suddenly there was a hard knock on the door.

Shadow looked at the door with his ears perked forward and wide eyed. Zane looked at the door as well from behind Shadow.

The pony didn't head the knock. She was still working on Tris's wounded leg.

Shadow slowly got up and crept toward the door silently. There were no windows to see who might be at the door. The only way to find out was opening the door.

"Open the door!" The voice rattled the room even though it came from outside. Shadow recognized the voice.
